Oversimplified SCP - Ch. 154 - SCP-368

There's a lot of truly friendly SCPs that simply just want to "live," though there are a few cases where a perfectly safe SCP gets turned into something far worse by attempting to destroy it, like 1609. Poor chair got tossed into a wood chipper and all it wanted in life was to teleport to people who really wanted to sit down and be useful. The definition of the classifications are pretty clear cut now but it gets weird when you look at the original series. By current classification standards, Mr Lost SHOULD be a Keter class because it's impossible to contain him. His anomalous property makes him and anyone who interacts with him lost and attempting to contain him results in people getting lost attempting to find the facility.

There are no "safe" SCP. Anything thought of as "safe" likely has undiscovered properties or behaviors, which would result in revised containment procedures.
SCP that they give freedom like this are especially worrying, as they may be spies/bugs for groups of interest (or other SCP). Or worse, they're cognitohazards that make staff believe they're safe.

EDIT: By "safe" I do not mean the classification, I mean scientist (and people in this thread) [mistakenly] thinking an SCP is not harmful to humans, the Foundation or the world.

@Kookiezi becuz it goes against the classification, it has its own mind, thus by definition it should be Keter. Safe class is for inanimated objects that require users in order to manifest. This is not.

Doesn't matter if it's friendly, or actually safe. SCP classification doesn't consider "safe" or "danger" when it comes to classification, only "is it easy to contain".

Has nothing to do with being inanimate. It's an origami crane that doesn't leave the office it's placed in. Sounds pretty easy to contain to me.

@aister I'm pretty sure the classification of scp already been repeated over and over again. Think of it as a box.
1. If you leave it inside the box and nothing gonna happen, it's safe
2. If you leave it inside the box and you are not sure what's gonna happen, it's euclid
3. If you leave it inside the box and it easily go out without sweat or you cant even put it inside the box, its keter
4. If it's the box, it's thaumiel

This has probably been explained several times already, but again, anything classified “Safe” doesn’t mean safe in the literal sense.

It means it is easily contained. Like, once it’s in the box, nothing happens, ever. Unless of course an anomalous event occurs, which demands reclassification.

At the end of the day this an author's work and the author gets to decide if something is intended to be dangerous.
I prefer to go with the 'it's an adorable paper crane buddy' and am happy with that.

@Serapheid: Perhaps I wasn't clear, I was not talking about the Safe classification at all. It was a comment primarily directed at the people in this thread thinking it's safe (won't harm them), cute, or saying they want one.
