You'd be surprised how distracting someone talking to you is, even if you aren't listening to them, I don't find it THAT unrealistic though I do agree in some situations it doesn't make sense

The fact she died off-screen gives me hope that she'll come back as will everyone else who has dissolved into particles due to some plot reason, that includes Akane.
