Despite their medical knowledge being atrocious... the sterilization spell is the wet dream of some medical specialists, just imagine, you say a few words, and an entire area becomes sterilized of bacteria.

The magic they have may have had an adverse effect on their research culture, it isn't really explored but there are hints this society became a little too dependent on their magic, and with the religious practices going hand in hand with the magical practice they slacked on the more "mundane" areas.
Looking at it another way, it's weird for a healer to know "Level < 1 Death".

There is one thing I don't like about narrative. MC often uses when describing treatments statistical data. Like in this very chapter:

We know why he says that but other character don't. More suitable would someting like:

It is one thing having divine revelation about a procedure but phrasing it like it is already being used. Remeber that from the other characters point of view Falma is the only one who poses this knowledge.
I think that by now he can just say whatever and everyone will just eat it up no question asked, the only one to ever really question him was his brother, and the guy already folded like a shirt

Maybe the brother is going to a chapel. He might seem really callous, but you never know with people, especially when facing death.
He's also been portrayed as very devout, iirc, so he's likely going to pray

I always thought getting blood from a relative was a given. didn't know about the Graft-versus-host disease risk
Not at all! We have situations where even a gestating fetus doesn't match their mother's blood type. Google "fetal blood type incompatibility".
