I can't believe how incompetent the police in this story are. I work with a third-world country's police, and even they are not as bad as here.

In the end it was a combination of theories.
I did think about the possibility of the guy faking beng dead, but decided to discard it, my bad, even if the hint s were clear, spitting blood for a posion that paralyze the body didn't make much sense, and I didn't knew about the guy being a show off and putting blood in the vial, moving his hands and chanigng position, got too stuck on him being dead before coming down.
The gondola axle thing...was that to fill pages? Made no sense and any gondola have the chain on top pointing straight up, is not like it would have turned horizontal if it was midway around.
I knew the hat guy was the killer, but didn't think about a needle, the hands seeming to go for something around the asshole neck made me tunnel vision.

Not "your bad" at all. I raised that possibility in another chapter's thread, but as I suspected, the author doesn't research anything about his own plot devices. Aconitine is indeed "fast acting" but that means it acts in the ballpark of about 2 hours rather than dozens, mere seconds is just impossible to even circulate where it needs to go. Not only that, it's not a magic spell to be able to "totally paralyze" someone immediately after injection. When the symptoms would begin manifesting, the guy should still be able to move, have difficulty breathing and overall begin to suffer - nothing happens at once, nevermind instantly. Who in their right minds would still pretend to be a corpse under such circumstances? Also, a small needle coated in the stuff could hardly deliver the 2 mg or so of the substance to be fatal. This is more and more like Scooby Doo indeed...
