in a sense, depends
in another sense, partially, not fully, after some time you will forget, but you are also reminded sometimes

Here's another philosophical angle to this, saying the same thing tangibly, yet ultimately answering no;

For the void to be filled in any way is a betrayal of the memory of what was lost.
However, when you get a new dog, your internal volume expands meaning the proportion of vacant space is less, in turn lessening the pain.
