...How come that most series on MangaDex these days are NOT up-to-date?
It used to be on of the most reliable "aggregators" and now it's one of the worst.

Because MangaDex didn't upload anything themselves but a few exceptions (sponsorship with other sites or initiative to upload an official sources); they also don't enforce anything about that (which is great). 99% titles you see here are uploaded voluntarily by the TL team themselves.
