I mean it's been a few days/weeks since they met and started dating just a day or so ago? I'm pretty much fine with this progression speed. And the fmc also has an unknown amount of years experience as his wife, so the preset dynamic makes sense.

It's a Manhua they drag out small periods of story over several chapters so progression is going to feel slow no matter the personality of the mc especially considering the amount of time that has passed. Also the dynamic/design to the romance in this is literally supposed to be fox and rabbit. You can't get across the charm of her character being mischievous and aggressive in the relationship as well without a character that is designed reacted heavily to it. It's literally gonna be the whole first chunk of the story you get tiny morsels of progression sprinkled into fluff following the dynamic set up in chapter 1. It's just the way most manhuas go and having read the other work they have It's gonna absolutely follow that speed. In a manga this would drive me insane but this is a manhua that unlike most manga is likely to go 150-300+ chapters.

Thanks for the translation as always Paragon. I agree that the male protag is kind of weak, but in this chapter he does explicitly acknowledge that his gf seems so wonderful whereas he himself is kind of lackluster, and actually tries to be proactive by telling her he likes her, so I hope this starts his development of trying to be a better man for her.

Aside from that, I am wondering about a previous chapter, with the joke about 'touching all the bases.' Pardon my ignorance but does Chinese have an equivalent to our English euphemism about first, second, etc. base?

Have to agree. At least in the other story by this author, there is character growth, both the male MC gets development and the female one especially given the reality she finds herself in.

Yet this one? Just feels like half of it is pure references to My Wife is from a thousand years ago, or pseudo fluff, but the fluff just being the average relationship depicted in shounen/shoujo japanese manga. Nooot great to say the least.
