I don't know how you'd get that impression. If he became cruel why would she pursue him in a new timeline instead of avoid him?
Because she messed up last time which led him to be cruel. So she is trying to fix her mistake. As she always came off as someone trying to fix her mistakes. Like how she was remicning on how his mother is nice to her and likes this time. Which I assumed that it meant that last time the mother didn't treat her that way. Probably for what she did to her son in that time line.

As far as the mother goes, we’ve had a couple lines that suggest that she’s A, very comfortable around her (like when she almost slipped up and called her “our” mother) and B, she seems to have been very happy when being welcomed in again.

Between her grief shown a few times early on, her comments about “I know he’d die to save me”, it seems they were happily married, and a few lines suggest she might even have been pregnant when he died for her. That all that, plus a scene near the first chapter where she is genuinely scared to cross the road without triple-checking for cars, and I think we can see what happened.

Ugh please. We don't need an asshole simp creating drama. Let's hope he just dies.

I just want my cute, wholesome, teasing romance.

mfer tried defending himself with the "Im rich" card.. smh :cautious:
Given the reaction of her friends (~presents = sincerity), and given that we often see this kind of opinion in manhua/manwha, it could have worked.

A lot of women are represented quite materialistic in those stories

Yeah, I had the exact same idea last chapter. I get the feeling this rich asshole might be responsible for the protag's death in the other timeline somehow. Guess we'll see. In any case thanks as always paragon.
If this rich mf wasn't the trigger to his death from her previous timeline, well, it might as well could be one now....knowing that guy's personality. His tenacity will surely be a pain in the ass as "No = Yes" in his book...

Also, fuck this girl. This is not the behavior a friend should have :pout:

Thanks for the chapter!
Quite a common mindset to see in asian media. A lot of my friends grew up watching shows with that kind of persistence = love so they seek that kind of relationship which obviously turned out to be quite unhealthy.

Also I feel like she's just genuinely asking why she doesn't like him, rather than asking her to go for him instead.

society today values social status than their own dignity and principles. i get why these rich spoiled brats think they'd get anything by burning their father's money.
Even moreso the case in China, due to the concept of "face".

Angry He Fang is scary indeed! However, she is just going off of what He Fang has told them, not personal experience, so I think you're attributing malice or some other negative trait to her when there is nothing to suggest such. She's not negging He Fang, either, simply asking her why, since she percieves perseverance as a good trait to have in pursuit of love; she doesn't deny He Fang's reason, either, which should be the most obvious sign that it was an honest question.

I disagree. If she had just asked why He Fang doesn't like him I wouldn't have a problem, but she is calling perseverance what is actually obnoxious behavior, even more so now that He Fang is in a relationship. He Fang has already rejected him several times and he continues to pester her. I think it wouldn't be difficult for He Fang to get a restraining order against him.

I don't disagree that he's pestering her, but again, we as readers get to see a lot more of the behaviour and can acknowledge that it's pestering and obnoxious, rather than simple perseverance, which how she has explained things to them directly it sounds like, until she actually clarifies in response to the question put to her.

I think she has enough information to not call it perseverance:

  • She knows that he has been rejected multiple times and she has already rejected him on behalf of He Fang;
  • She knows that He Fang wants nothing to do with him;
  • She knows that He Fang has a boyfriend;
  • She knows He Fang finds it annoying.

  • She knows He Fang finds it annoying.
She's rejected him for her, where he would have acted like he did initially; calm, polite, reasonable. Not freaking out and self-centred, because he saw her with another man and couldn't handle it and let his true thoughts come to the surface.

Saying that "he has nothing to do with me" doesn't inform against perseverance at all, but in fact the exact opposite.

He Fang is saying that the entire situation is annoying, because the others don't know the other side of the guy, and now she has to get up and deal with him. If anything, that attitude would increase someone's curiosity, not assuage it, as to why she holds that attitude, having a suddenly-appearing boyfriend that they've never heard of from her or not; in fact, considering the suddenness, it probably looks more like it's a fling, not something substantial.

Note again that He Fang didn't get upset with the girl for asking, and answered matter-of-factly, and the girl also didn't reject what He Fang said in explanation.
