I dunno someone yelling about blood and all that should have raised some concerns at least. Also with how low level they all are, how the heck did Leader manage to take all 3 down without any issue in single attacks. We know the systems in this series work based soley on stats. I should stop thinking cause I'll enter a rabbithole of badness lol
I binge reread this and they do make it clear in chapter 3 that equipment does make a difference along with stats. And in this chapter, they reiterated that technique does make a difference to equipment longevity and ease of defeating a specific target. I assume this would apply to humans too, when the stats don't grant effective immunity or they are relatively equal. Since the guild goons didn't put up a fight, they just ate the leader's deranged wrath.

I wouldn't put it past the leader to hog all the very best equipment for himself too. Since he showed in this chapter, and previous chapters like 2, 3, and 4 that he would straight up lie to everyone for his own benefit. Much like how he always used MC to his benefit. Nevermind the threats or straight murder.

The leader also is someone who did want to aim for the top. So it can be assumed he had some stats relative to the goons before MC hard carried his guild.

Of course, I doubt any of these things were carefully thought out, even if easily implied, before being written.

We'll see Claude back. Only question is how he will be "enhanced" to "drive the Plot". Underground drug, Demon Pill, demonic contract, Evil God? So many options...
I vote for "still full obliviously, stupidly full of himself" so the MC can just stomp his ass and have that entire thing over with.

So writing wise why bother saving the ex-party from the king if your gonna just kill them straight after and have the party leader do a repeated attempt on the MC's life. MC is actually responsible for this and should have talked to said king.
Well, from the perspective of a writer, this is actually a pretty good series of plot points.

For one thing, in order to tell a good story, you need a good antagonist. And Claude fits the bill nicely. Having Fildo rat them out would remove that antagonist because, as the mage said, they would have been executed otherwise. Which means there wouldn't have been much chance for them to escape without the author/manga-ka doing an ass-pull.

And having Claude kill the rest of the party is the sign that he's gone beyond the point of no return (again, just as the mage said right before he killed her). We, the readers, now have the assurance that there is likely to be no redemption for this character. Or if there is? It's going to be the Death Equals Redemption trope. Either way, his place as the primary antagonist of this story (for the foreseeable future, anyhow) has been solidified.

For the future, given how this author/manga-ka has demonstrated that they're willing to take the more provocative path, I'm predicting that Claude will either have macguffin only he knows of that is incredibly evil that's going to curse him to damnation and allow him to take everyone he thinks deserves it down with him into hell.

And the best part is that he's not going to have that ironic sort of "NO THIS ISN'T WHAT I WANTED!" scene the moment the curse takes hold. It's gonna be exactly what he wants.

Of course, this is just a prediction on my part. Let's see what happens.

Do you mean why did the characters do it? Writing wise, the points pretty obvious. It's what these events tell you and how they create potential events/conflicts in the future. Sparing them conveys that the mc is merciful. Well, not quite that since people don't really like mercy in these stories. It's more that it shows that when put in a position of power over someone, like they were with him given the level difference, he would make a different choice then they would and show patience and restraint even when the other party is in the wrong. Basically that it's fine for him to have all the power because he isn't quick to use it to hurt people even if they wrong him and will give people a second chance. It also gave the opportunity to show the guild fellows aren't all just one-dimensionally evil, most of them just got carried away like a normal person might and can fix their mistakes. It also showed that they had more going on in their life than their interactions with the mc. Finally, it sets up the leader as someone worth taking down, not as a physical challenge but morally.

Also, consider that they are all drunk and talking too. For how he killed them, the only physical fighter he killed first while they were offguard. The other two wouldn't be able to deal with an armed man in the first place.

Oh nvm, this isn't even murderhobo, this is straight up lunatic. Well, I actually prefer this, the MC will have no choice but to curbstomp this little bitch into the ground later. OF COURSE, that's if the author has the guts to do it.
