Since the first chapter I can’t help to wonder what Hana’s crime is. She got 8 years, so my guess is manslaughter or some organized crime. The more innocent looking one having a “darker” past makes a good contrast.

Actually, aren't the more austere conditions of american/british prisons the outliers (in the first world anyway)? Not to mention this is likely a low level prison, which usually have "benefits" such as being generally nicer.

japanese prisons notoriety is that it devoid of sensation and strict. you really can't do much there, everything dictated and scheduled strictly. that's the design. but it's generally safe and clean.

My guess is tax evasion. It has some ridiculously harsh sentences.

Pretty certain it's common for scandinavian prisons to have single rooms. At least in Norway they focus a lot on rehabilitation.

I dunno why you morons are booing me for my weed takes I literally live in a place where weed is legal (at least on a state level) and it's not a problem compared to drugs like meth and especially fentanyl. While all drugs are addictive, marijuana doesn't cause physical dependency so it's not an addictive drug.
Alcohol can cause physical dependence by the way, just saying.

This whole bs was started by America to basically shut down Vietnam protests and then we exported the propaganda to other countries. The idea that we jail people for it on the taxpayer's dime is insane.

I wonder if we'll get to meet her sister

Soap bubbles are nice sure tho idk if you need to go outta your way to make it foam (also never heard of a foaming net but other than some basic face wash and the occasional sheet mask i don't rly have a 'skincare routine'), unless it just makes it easier to wash your face? I mean, unless they're allowed to get 'gifts' like blankets and such from relatives, i imagine they wouldn't be allowed stuff like 'skincare'/cleansers but just washing your face would be enough or like 'opening your pores' during bath time (tho it would be interesting, unless they had naturally oily skin or acne prone to begin with, if there was some before/after of someone in prison for a few years to see how diff their skin is, if better/worse, not counting like stress aside), but i suppose with bar soaps it might be harder to wash your face that way than with your hands

"Many cases of Marijuana addiction"
Yeah okay author sure lol.
Presumably some people get addicted to things that aren't in and of themselves addictive.
From this, I'd surmise that "person addicted to [ blank ]" might get reported somewhere, and someone who doesn't know better comes to the conclusion that "[ blank ] is addictive".
