Also, the jumping timeline is starting to give me a headache, especially since the characters don't actually age, no matter what year it is.

Finally, while I love this series, this whole chapter came off as kinda farcical. A hoard of foreign MIBs chasing teens through the streets in broad daylight with no one noticing, pits dug out of nowhere, a full on brawl in an amusement park in public... realistically, this would create an international incident with severe repercussions.

In real life the question of ownership would be easily answered. If it was under a grant, it's probably MIT. If it was under a contract, possibly whoever the contract is with.

Touma and the sister don't have any rights to the data and it would be serious misconduct to just destroy it.

I get so nostalgic every time the mangaka correctly draws the inside of a standard mit classroom. There are lots that look exactly like that one at the start of the chapter (and I mean exactly, down to the blackboards, tables, chairs), which are used for smaller classes,, and it just makes me happy that they did their research.

Edit: also, that expression kana makes on page 33 panel 6 seems new. I like it. I think it shows her evolution as a character clever in her own right.

@gormadoc Except for one thing: the chapter says he did the work that they were so interested in as a hobby, separate from his work at MIT. That would be enough plausibility to argue that MIT or whoever provided the grant doesn't have any right to it.

@NamelessSoldier even if he did it as a hobby it's likely that MIT or the contracting group holds rights to it. They fund him and he was clearly doing the work on university time with university resources.
