A cold blooded murder, but for a somewhat right reason, twisted though the reason was.

It's refreshing to read a murder that isn't hot blooded in nature.

When they found the body, the victim was laying on his back. If he died trying to unlock the door, why did he turn back and lay down instead of falling on his front. and why did the culprit count on victim's mistake for locking himself. what if he didn't make the mistake?

The chef pretended that the door was locked, shouting "Open the door!". Isn't it only natural to assume that the thumbturn lock is thus in the 'locked' position and needs to be turned to 'open'? And maybe the victim walked away from the door before he succumbed to the blood loss and fell backwards?
