Question about "Hentai" tag and when it is to be applied.

Hello! I didn't see any information on this in Section 5.4 the site rules so I thought I'd ask direct.

Recently a series that was just marked as "Smut" was given the "Hentai" tag as well, most likely due to the inclusion of an official alternate version of a single chapter page that had a barely censored penis in it, instead of the page will the fully censored member. Now there are two other series that I know off that are also marked as "Smut", yet the scantalation groups go out of their way to either edit in detailed outlines or just straight up photoshop genitals from some other porn manga in and call it a "Lewd Edit", even though that wasn't the intention of the original author (despite the blatant sexual activities that happen in both of the series).

My questions is: should series with unofficial "Lewd Edits" be given the "Hentai" tag as well, or should they be left as just "Smut" and the chapters be "read at your own risk"?

I want to ask about this as well and draw a line in the sand about this.... A very short web series I'm working on, had people going on top of each other tagging it hentai, untagging, tagging it again. This series, while has tits, had no exposed genitals as well. I would prefer it to NOT be hentai tagged, since it's pretty cute, fluffy and not as explicit. It's also a little murky because this is doujin (amateur) work published in pixiv and twitter, thus technically not part of hentai publication if we are following @AbyssalMonkey logic, but we all know there are plenty explicit arts in twitter and pixiv. I would love for there to be a clear guideline on how to decide this. I am even considering doing the reverse of what @HDMI1 said, and just censor the more explicit part (with sticker or stamp) to make sure it is not tagged hentai.

The latter is much more explicit I guess, so it getting tagged hentai may be inescapable, although I kinda wish it wasn't.

When something has exposed genitals we allow people to tag it as hentai. It can have as many pages of tits and whatever else going on as it likes.

While some of the series may not be "hentai" by some people's standards we've had to take this approach as the site was getting banned in countries that don't like porn. Which is also the reason for the hentai toggle :x

By this standard though, any "smut" manga, or even anything that simulates sex, then it's hentai.
