Here's a whole rant about everything that pisses me off about this fucking story.

I insist you read it so you can be mad too. The author never sat down to think about any of this, and so things ended up the way they are now. He even had that FANTASTIC fucking panel at the start of the flashback. You know the one. That would have been a GREAT way to finish chapter 16.

I've only read up after they did the flashback. By that point, it's looking like she's back to being FMC again. Seems to have been for a while. But this arc definitely just sidelined her after the main problem was "solved" (Read: Dumped by the dipshit).

Brother, this is hot garbage. The author dumped the main premise like a pile of shit when he couldn't think of a way to justify it. The story isn't about Akane anymore, and you won't know what the fuck happened with mom for another 42 chapters.

I fucking hate the book L'Amant. It's so fucking boring and the narration is ass. I had to read it twice for school and the second read through i didn't even realize that i had already read it until halfway through because it created 0 memories inside my head.
I have a tough time imagining the movie, which i'm now learning exists, could be any better. But i guess since the narration was so phenomenally incompetent at describing literally any situation or action, having images is probably a big step up.

Wow where do you go to school to read Duras. I’m guessing it was university because while I’ve never read it the film is very explicit.

The film is odd, but very beautifully made. Jane March had this super short career in the 90’s of being the embodiment of sex then flittered away.

The cinematography is luscious, I was surprised to see it show up in this manga.

Because the entire starting premise of the series, the thing that drew us in, got wrapped up with a "... Never mind" and TONS of plot holes. But not before pretending like he was actually going to give us closure for a whole chapter. The author effectively pulled a bait and switch on his audience after realizing that he doesn't know what to do with the main cast and premise.

I think the thing for me is "why" her mom hated movies was never the main hook for me. It was more a way of explaining WHY the main heroine was so sheltered she'd never experienced films. The premise is "boy explores the merit of 15+ films with a sheltered girl." This current story arc with tiktok girl being an extension of sheltered. Except for her it's not cuz she's got strict parents and more that her attention span is shot. Maybe it gets worse but it has yet to betray the core of what got me interested in it, yet.
