the problem is the opening. That's it. People see the first couple chapters, and just assume it's another shitty Shonen story. They don't make it past Rumble Town, where it really picks up

As someone who stopped reading at the second chapter beginning the first time I read this... entirely agree.

Seth was EVRYTHING I loathed in shounen MCs, at that point in time... but for some reason, a few years later I decided to give a reread because it continued to pop on my recommend here and there, and I had certainty it would have been canceled at that point, so I gave it one more try.

And... by chapter 3... I understood... this story is a special one.
