@Nakayuki if you consider him a man-child (basically a kid in the body of an adult) his actions would seem kinda normal (considering ran was the same case but literally ) so yeah it might make it feel less creepy

finished binge reading it in a few hours, so beautiful, the start was awkward, but it was filled with wonders enough to keep me going, i could almost feel the magic surrounding Ran, and the post battle arc conclusion is so satisfying, I wish a lot more mangakas could take a page or two from this one.

Ran wasn't my favorite female lead at the start, she was a mess, but considering she's just a child, it makes enough sense that I don't want to drop it. And she grew and grew and grew so well along with Makoto, that she became one of better female lead in shoujo mangas that I've read. I really love the ending, that kiss is just cute and sweet enough, I feel so good reading the ending, it's been a long time since i feel this good reading a manga's ending. BLESS!

I would have enjoyed this series more without Outarou. I found that he kinda ruined things for me. But outside of him I enjoyed everything else. The art is absolutely beautiful and I’m such a fan of Aki Irie’s artstyle. I loved the ending of this series, seeing Ran having grown and mature was a really nice way to end it.

Such a good read. The post battle arc was perfect bc usually manga just cut it all on one chapter. To be fair, outarou didn't know ran was at elementary. But still he said "i love you even if you're 10" yeah no i lost any hope on him.

Glad outarou died. Knowing japanese, makoto would've been lost if outarou survived lol

I'm just going to read it as that Outarou didn't really register that she was 10 until that last day, since he never saw her in a child body, was mostly unaware that magic existed until the end and was bug infected for a lot of it. Death was really the only end with that last line and the whole part about him being obsessed with her. There was a few more plots that I wanted more explanation of, but overall ok manga. Where the fuck did the bug hole go? We just never see the village again after they were released. Art was beautiful, and Hibi was such a good boy that I wished I could have seen more of with Ran as they were older

Beautiful read!

Outarou is definitely creepy, but i dont think he was ever shown in a good light. Author clearly frowned upon his relationship with Ran (with Hibi being our "audience" reaction, utterly disgusted) and Outarou was basically the only character that died - he was written to die (though questionable choice with them kissing....)

Wished we had more Hibi and Ran moments at the ending.

Absolutely loved the mother. Her feminine rage was lovely. Laissez-faire but still devoted to who she truly cares for.

I want to reread it immediately after i finish reading this. The story is good even though there some part I don't really understand but i still can enjoyed. Art is gorgeous and beauty. There's no much drama that why i like it. Sango and big bro is my new best couple and of course ran and makoto too.
There's something about uotarou that needed in this story to make development ran to be more mature. I know he a creep but i don't really feel it while reading it because he didn't know ran just a child but that last word made me realize, NO, NOPE, HE IS CREEP. But glad he die, your will never forget for the plot.
What a fun ride.

Lol, Outarou was thinking that she was a 16 years old girl, because Jin age, when Outarou was at Ran house and meet with her parents, he was serious about wait by Ran, what Ran was 10 yo was unplaned to him
The moral in this story was cute

ngl it was a beautiful manga, art-wise it's amazing, story had its ups and downs but at least it ended on a high and the battle part with the insects had me hype for a bit until it got frustrating near the end. Unfortunately the ending doesn't get me emotional or anything nor does it leave me feeling empty inside lol like with other mangas I've read, mostly because of the beginning with Outarou, could have gone without it really other than that it was a fine read.

Questionable but great overall story. Classic japanese history and folktale interweaven to tell the message of adulthood and the meaning of growing up.

Loved how the Makoto and Ran relationship and how it developed. Ehhh, her and Outarou was for the plot mostly and really, it could've just stuck to a friendship rather than something romantic tbh. Everything after Outarou's death though was amazingly + cute.
