It is it is, you can read my mind.It can't be that can it?

Well, we'll always have the original, I guess. It is it is, you can read my mind.
Can't you tell us without spoilers? Or just put the spoiler tag over it so we can click and see? 😊Still alive, I'm glad I wasn't born in this era. And I thought the worst would be the censorship, how wrong I was. I'm sure those who never watched the original will never notice but our panda is going to cry (not telling why though).
Okay, I'll put two spoiler tags, the first one with minor ones and the other with more important ones. Read at your own discretion, the total of filtered chapters that I ended skimming were 12 (the scheduled ones for autumn season). I tried to rant to the minimum and summarised it as much as possible, the minor spoilers are more technical/aesthetic comments and the major spoilers are commented alongside the story. It's already been a month so I must have forgotten some things. Can't you tell us without spoilers? Or just put the spoiler tag over it so we can click and see? 😊
Ahhh.Okay, I'll put two spoiler tags, the first one with minor ones and the other with more important ones. The censorship is taken from the following approach: instead of some kind of blurring/mosaic censorship (or white light, etc.), they simply supress any important part from the scenes. Remember how usual was to see Ranma girl buck naked from the front, with nipples, non-detailed genitalia? Completely removed, except for the trailer scene where Ranma shouts while showing the cleavage after being turned into a woman? It doesn't go further than that. In the original we could see a lot of playful ways of covering and throwing bathing wooden buckets, ripping clothes just to barely cover some parts (or going topples), etc. Even things as simple as "throwing Ranma to the pond in a parabolic line" is replaced to "throwing Ranma in a straight line to the pond" and more things that at first were not exaggerated at all and only as time passed turned comical (easy example: it takes several episodes in the original to see Ranma for the first time to be seen sent flying into the sky, here happens in the first episode).
There are also other styling details related to comedy and story development, essentially the characters have been turned as plain as possible, butchered the development and reduced all the slice of life the series had. The animation can seem promising in the first episode because it looks quite neat, but they remove all the effects that made intense and martial-like that required more time and detail. I'd need to make comments on the entire episodes to make the comparisons so both fans and no-fans could realise all the differences it has and can be appreaciated even in 360p.The first episode is pretty faithful to the original animation, except for the drop of narration quality, details omissions and reduced time for side characters. The second differs story-wise in the second half, though the battle of Akane vs all the fan boys is a bit disappointing and the first shotdown with Ranma and Kuno suffers as well. I started to feel annoyed after the fall into the pool, as they changed the perspective of Tatewaki Kunou, as he no longer realises that "Ranma cowardly has swapped with a girl to go away" and instead he tries and fails to catch Ranma and is clueless about female Ranma until mostly the end of the chapter. I forgot to mention that the doctor time gets butchered and left as a flimsy moment to hint the relationship with Akane.
From the following chapter (the 3rd) onwards the story order is disordered, the character introductions are rushed and severely cut, side characters are skipped (it breaks the continuity of the story) and even add modified chapters from 60th onward with really poor taste. So Ryouga is introduced out of nowhere and doesn't even have 1/4 of presence than the original story, the second showdown with Ranma and Tatewaki Kunou is skipped, Kodachi Kunou arc (aka gimnastics battle arc) is skipped, more SoL/comedy moments cut, China flashbacks are scarce and Shampoo is introduced randomly in the middle of a chapter and out of the blue. The memory incident is solved in a flash (of course a let-down, Shampoo disappears for the rest of the season and the fast-forward goes to the dancing arc competition of Akane and Ranma which lasts several chapters, with a completely different development and little comedy involved. Yes, without building trust or anything they are tied up in that event.
Al least they're sticking with the 80's color palette. Love them pastels!New PV, I am surprised how they manage to make it look like they adapted a lot of content in 12 episodes to create hype:
I'm as disappointed as @BakedBanana, but since this is NETFLIX, I see this as an IMPROVEMENT.It's already been one week since it was uploaded, it's the Opening + first episode preview. It's going to be screened really shortly today:
P.A. Works™ (Progressive Animation) also use pastels in their works, except for Kuro Mukuro ( Black Relic ). The girl stuff like Paripi Koumei, Sakura Quest, Shirobako, Aquatope in the Sand, & the epic True Tears use pastels.Al least they're sticking with the 80's color palette. Love them pastels!
