So here's the thing: On a website where you ask questions and get answers, those answers could be said to have objective value (is the answer on topic? Is it correct?)

As for this website where the majority of posts are the discussion of media... not so much

I think rating comments isn't necessary.
The rating system will make the site like reddit which will make it harder to stay unaffected by popular opinions knowing (at least I know from my experience) that being popular or liked doesn't always mean that it's good.
Also the rating system doesn't mean that toxicity is going to disappear magically as not all people strive towards the better or their idea of "better" is different than yours or mine
And this isn't a kindergarten where everyone has to be nice each other all the time. and if things get toxic then there's a big report button under each comment which is surprisingly not just for decoration.

@MrIncognito The website itself is irrevelant. Because reddit and lots of other websites also use the comment rating system.
Does not matter if were talking about objects or non physical things. What matters is that people who love reading mangas need to know to a certain extent who is somewhat reliable and who isn't.
I'm sure you and any seasoned MD user knows this is a much needed feature.
And I think I heard someone already requesting this here.
I hope MD won't decide on popularity, because if judged by the other suggestions and comments I've seen, too many half witted people are active
and too many usefull people are simply idle.
their idea of "better" is different than yours or mine
Trust me, this feature would help the better half of the community tremendously.
It's just that everyone has been in this toxic environment for so long you lost all hope of it to get better.
The toxic part of community will just either fade away or accommodate to the new rules of hierarchy.

If you honestly think imaginary internet points without tangible benefits will motivate the previously dormant "useful people" into taking a more active role, I don't know what to tell you.
If anyone gets motivated, it's the "half witted people" looking to farm upvotes/karma, which demonstrates the monkey's paw of this well-meaning but ultimately flawed suggestion.

I did say it's not perfect. Reason being that this was not implemented sooner.
I don't think its too late for it, and I do think there are just as much good people here as bad ones.

Truth be told I don't think you're one of the "better half" of the community and your assumption that you are truly makes me laugh.

I believe people want to strive towards the better. And if they want to be seen as a trustworthy useful person in the comment section where a lot of reader visit out of the sheer purpose of wanting to know more about the manga, then the commenting people will surely try to write something constructive

Hold on there, you were using that as an example of a website where the system worked "almost perfectly". If you're shifting the point to just "lots of websites use it", I have bad news. Thousands of United States citizens are refusing to wear face masks in public. It does not mean it's a good idea.

@sterven Still waiting for at least a half reasonable argument. Seriously I have time, gather your thoughts, and think up something why you think I don't belong to the better half of this community?
I will try to improve myself, like If you want me to use more profanity, no problem. You want me shitposting others thread? no problem.

@justforthelulz I did notice lol You should start watching just for laughts gag videos. I think you would enjoy them a lot :D

You know how characters in fiction are sometimes labelled as 'genre-savvy' and 'wrong-genre-savvy'?
Is there an equivalent concise term for that in real life? Or at least for internet-interaction specific usage?
