I just think any kind of comment rating system is pointless/useless, what i would like is better sorting so that we don't have to dig through pages to find the og comment someone is responding to, but that is already planned.

Hey I'm not demanding it, no pressure here. I just asked an easy simple sincere question.
You wrote and targeted that towards me on my thread in the first place. If you feel personaly offended you have a right to, cause its the truth.
But you put up a guy in question (me), and I'm asking for the reason behind it.
If you observe, so far you and a handfull of trolls rejecting this implementation are doing nothing but shitposting, insulting and theme twisting like that guy with the covid face mask and what not LOL...
So.... as I said, take your time and reply in an orderly fashion with at least some argument.

IF: The comment rating system is for discussion, i don't think it's that useful, because people will end up siding with the majority most of the time, i would prefer just having a discussion with arguments and puting an end with it through words, not by who has the most points.

IF: The comment rating system is for showing appreciation, i think it should only go up, no downvote option, you don't like a comment, you ignore it and move on.

Indeed that would be the case on forums and comment sections where grown people are discussing.
But given that MD is used by mostly teen's we need a system that reduces the chaos and helps the people in searching for a proper helpful opinion.

Seeing theres even a conflict among the mod's I fail to see any reason for the suggestion thread to begin with. Guess all the shitposting needs space..

We're never removing manga ratings from the site.

EDIT: Also, the majority of our userbase is >23 years old.

And on the subject of comment ratings, not happening either. Forum style reactions like likes/thumbs up, etc, are being planned, but nothing like what's proposed here. No "reliability ratings", no reduced comment visibility, we're not Reddit.

In case you're curious why the previous one was mistakenly tagged as planned, Plyk didn't read the suggestion properly and thought it was about removing one's own rating because you can't currently do it, you can only change it to something else.

I agree with all of these stances, although I am still a bit hesitant on the forum style reactions 👎. However, if they work similarly to discord reactions, I suppose I would not mind the addition.
