I love how Rou was thinking he was so clever with his lies, then that human hero reveals that he already knew that there is no masters, and that that ogre could have easily killed them all...
All that thanks to an ability.

I'm really curious how his next evolution will look like. I hope it's a bit different from the novel's illustrations.
Well, until now, the manga version of his evolutions look better, so I'm sure it will also be the case with the next one.

So he's become selectively compassionate, superstitious, and cowardly this chapter just because the plot requires it.

This would've been better if the start of the series actually had brought these elements up. It's like we're halfway in and it's just now starting the worldbuilding.
Which quite frankly we still know almost next to nothing about. This is something I've always had a problem with this series.

Mushoku Tensei or Kumo might bog down in certain places but by god do you understand the world they live in, all the forces at work, and the politics. Here it just feels like stuff gets brought in almost randomly as it's needed for the plot. And what's the difference you might ask? This series appears to have had an entirely static world until Ogarou made contact with the outside world. Whereas in the other two the outside world was actively bustling and moving which eventually collides with the main characters.

I mean unless the section we're in currently is still considered to be a prologue of sorts.

I liked the chapter. It's refreshing he didn't kill everything and even considered the strength of the deer. Observing the battle is also educational.

@shoker well you're not exactly wrong for how it was quite a static world until Ogarou came out from the forest. the earlier story is written like diary/sol anyway, there won't be much explanation brought to light out of that. Also not to forget that they won't even know much bout the world cuz they lived deep in the woods separated and not knowing what the outside world is like until that army of humans came.

But it was made to be like that, because the entire story till now is technically Rou himself learning of what the world is like, and later Rou is revealed to be

able to evolve to an apostle lord which was an extinct species until he became one

and later a Vajrayaksha Overlord and he'll play a really big and important part as the world's enemy later

Just me or instead of showing a symphatetic side it shows that hes more of an asshole than you though already. A hunter knows to not hunt pregnant females (because a hunter is also part of the ecosystem not a killing machine that wipes the local wild life), only those who dont give a crap and care only about their greed (or are desperate which is not the case), hunt without discrimination. The only way to be more of an asshole there would be rip the male limbs and left him to die as he wathes Rou eats the female+ their baby in front of his eyes.

Rou has become so Op that he has no real challenge and still has 1 transformation to go, kinda wish they went ala kumo ga route. Yes she also has plot armor but at least she face proper challenges, here looks like hes facing children instead of real opponents and the only worthy fight(Red Bear) wasnt shown and only partially appeared on some flashbacks

And i agree that seems the world is only expanded to suit Rou needs, instead of running paralel plots that might or not come to bite him on the ass. They need an army to show how op Rou is? *pop* here it is for no seemingly reasons until its explained later with some convinient new character/race/faction that didnt notice until then. Seems we are watching a"bubble" around Rou and only what happens inside of the bubble have any consecuences

He is alrdy an asshole and a glutton to the point that he ignored anything to begin with, just because he need to get stronger to survive that is. That's why he made Parabellum which he took from "Si vis pacem, para bellum" which means "if you wish for peace, prepare for war"

. And yes, all that devourings he did will later come back to bite him, albeit a quite shallow bite as he is alrdy too OP at that time

Yeah, sadly whenever he got bit in the ass is a mere slap on the wrist, and you are right, theres 2 transfomations to go (to date seems i mixed those 2 as 1).

The author hanged himself by giving him so much power so fast, because there will be no foes worthy of mention aside quasi divine things/really broken ubber heroes/creatures. Right now he probably could stomp over 95% of the enemies on the setting and still have transfomations left (and in less than 3 months time after being born)
