Reader "fit width" not functioning as before? :not a bug:

I think a while back, the "fit width" option actually resized smaller images, up to the width of the reader. This helped out when the texts were especially small and difficult to read.

However, I'm finding that currently the "fit width" does NOT resize to the width. All small images only get as big as the original size of the images, and no more. ( = "no resize").

(No issues with larger-than-width images shrinking to fit the width of reader.)

Question is:
Which is the bug? Was "fit width" resizing a bug in the first place (and was it recently fixed)?
Or is the current "fit width" buggy?
Or, heaven forbid, is my memory buggy?

It never did because of my explicit distaste towards stretching out images and making them look worse. I don't know if this may have been the behaviour in the legacy reader, but certainly not in mine.
