almost that, the boyfriend of the long hair Bitch gave the girl an tip about using alcohol to get with MC, and she will start a rumor that she is pregnant(this part I don't know if was her idea or the dude, I read the raws with Google lens to translate some bits, so isn't accurate)
I can confirm a similar understanding of this, as I did the same, and yeah, wow....

Wait, who is the long hair bitch? The one who was sabotaging everything a bunch of chapters ago? The one he went to elementary or middle school with? And the boyfriend is the one with her? Who had something to do with the stuco president?

And the one who will start a rumor they are pregnant is the younger girl that is in love with MC that he literally just finished a date with? So many questions.

the more you elaborate the more my brain hurts... I think I might need to do what I told that guy in the series comments and drink a bottle of rum then give myself cerebral trauma until I forget I ever read this fucking insane garbage. :aquadrink:

this is so retarded. like bro didn't realizing they were drinking booze? like really??
Japan does have a very soda-like liquor sold in convenient store though. Not very sure if someone who have never drink before and are very young (bitter taste bud decrease with age, so the older a person, the less they perceive bitterness, and, in turn, alcohol) can notice the difference, but to me who is old, they are practically flavored soda, but they can still get you tipsy with enough dose, still, especially if you were to chug it down like soda.

Try searching Horoyoi. You will see there are all kinds of fruity, refreshing flavors in a very cutesy, friendly looking cans since they're marketed towards women. But the glaring hole in the story is that, these drinks always, ALWAYS, state clearly they are booze (not confirmed, but very certain it is required by law so probably no brands out there not plastered the word liquor on their can), and how sheltered you have to be to not know these cans are booze, when you can find them everyday in the booze fridge next to, but clearly separated from, the normal soda?

Even here, stateside, I've seen my friends get pretty sloshed after slamming down a bunch of hard seltzers/lemonades/ciders and those don't taste like alcohol to me. I don't think some dumb teenagers thinking whatever drinks of that sort they're handed just "taste bit weird" and not noticing it's alcoholic is beyond the realm of possibility. I would normally think Seiichi and Kotoko would be a bit more aware than that, but I could chalk it up to them being super relaxed and letting their guard down. Frankly, their accidentally getting drunk is the only non-retarded part of this situation so I don't get why some are getting hung up on it. It is still super contrived as you mentioned, but not beyond the level of other contrivances we've had to put with until now. Guess it's just the straw that broke the camel's back?

they literally said sake which can be smelled and tasted quite easily, regardless of age. hell, even his guardian noticed the smell right away lol
and no matter how sweet booze is, you can always feel the burning on your gums unless you're a severely addicted and hardened alcoholic.

Drama for the sake of drama...
It's quite clear that this guy can't write a story without adding drama.

What I'm more curious about is why the fuck did his cousin/teacher sell them out so fast. Like, usually, I'd expect from a close family member that has good relationship at least to wait a moment, try to understand the situation and cover up momentarily if necessary.
But nope, straight to the chopping block you go...damn
And they don't understand why he can't trust women....

Sake is generic word that means alcoholic drinks. Somewhat like the word Booze, I guess. Booze can be anything from whiskey-cola RTD up to vodka. Same deal for Sake. The strong traditional Sake in Japan don't sell in can form, as far as I know; and these soda like booze really masked the alcohol well. Depending on flavor, some are undetectable. The most you'll get from the ones that are detectable are the off taste of having alcohol in it, but definitely no burn on gum - it's only 3% and they try to mask it well since this is marketed toward people who don't really drink, but want to join in on the party after all.

The smell is something you get after you accumulate alcohol in your body to some proportion and it needs time to be processed by your body, so most of the time, by the time you start having smell, you are already drunk, so that one is somewhat plausible; they don't have to drink strong alcohol, they only have to drink a lot.

Not that I tried to defend it or anything; as I said the most glaring hole for me is the can itself always say BOOZE and the brands and such should be something they know. What I tried to point out is, those points can be explained away.

sake is rice wine and nothing else. and they ALWAYS depict rice wine in ANY manga you'll ever read.
and no, if your nose is not broken, you can smell the "burning" stench of ethanol quite quickly - not as quickly as with the pure solvent of course, but quickly enough. and that smell is different from the disgusting fumes you'll smell from drunkards. it's similar to antiseptic (since they'll usually use isopropyl alcohol for that nowadays).

Hello shura my old friend
You've reared your scary head again
With a drama that was creeping
And a plot point while I was sleeping
And if kotoko doesn't get with her man
Once again
It'll be the sound of screaming

Literally searched for less than a minute and found evidence to the contrary:
"In Japan, the word sake 🍶 (酒), or in its polite form osake (お酒), means alcohol generally speaking. When talking about Japanese sake, we are in fact referring to nihonshu (日本酒), or more rarely washu (和酒), that translates as "Japanese alcohol"."
https://www.kanpai-japan.com/japan-travel-guide/japanese-sake-nihonshu

Also guess my "nose is broken" and I'm a "severly addicted" "hardened alcoholic" based on the fact that I never experience either the burning or smell the fumes you mentioned unless I'm drinking shit like bourbon or scotch with my pop. Barring that, you might just be extremely sensitive to alcohol, but that couldn't possibly be... :wooow:
