It does and it doesn't, after all there was no way for him to know the truth back when it happened, so his reasoning still works even if the girl is no longer the villain. I think the problem here was that the author's signs of the girl being innocent of that past event were a bit too subtle. And the fact that the girl beside her was poorly mentioned made it worse than it actually should be. I found it to be an ok reveal to be honest, I've seen way worse happen in other stories, in this one the author at least gave us a small sign that the thot wasn't an actual thot
