Im liking this iteration of katsuya more than the WN. While the fight between akira and katsuya is really fun to read in WN, i dont really mind if we dont get to see it here.

In WN Katsuya really fills the good ol’ stupid naive character being dominated by char sigma mc. But this Katsuya feels more fleshed out as a character.

Yeah this what makes me like katsuya as a character in this iteration.

While the early manga chapters made me a part of the readers that really want the mc to destroy katsuya, now i dont really care. It kinda cringes me how the early chapters invited the edgy readers (i used to be one of them).

Am i the only one that changed their mind about katsuya as a character?

Gotta love Sheryl just for that comment.😆 That said, even though there is a lot of Katsuya scenes here, I think the whole chapter and possibly the next is all about Sheryl. She has grown a lot since her introduction. Katsuragi certainly noticed, and I'm sure how well she handles this will have an impact on how well he views her. Afterall, Akira basically told him she's disposable. Important, but disposable.

IIRC it's sort of an inherent trait for people who can connect with old world domain.

Their brains have built-in wireless adapter function which can both receive and emit signals. Since Katsuya believes himself to be strong and talented, his brain waves also influenced people's perception of him (dunno if his Alpha was amplifying that or not). Meanwhile Akira always underestimates himself, as he thinks most of his strength came from Alpha's support, so many (mainly idiots) still perceive him as a greenhorn. An experience hunter would be able to feel the discrepancy, as in previous chapter Shirakabe commented that his intuition was dulled whenever Akira was around.

We all like to see Akira, but remember this kids: the reason why manga like this is good versus all the other crap isekai/reincarnation/cultivation that you see being crapped out across the internet(most likely you're reading these) is because of the character development of other characters-NOT just the MC. If you want just some dumbass who gets strong stumbling everywhere, getting SSS rank and going on a flex parade throughout the story, go somewhere else. But for some of us who prefer "real manga," this pacing is right. Plus, its not even that much that they focus on Katsuya.

I don't blame Katsuya. If I was a character and I was designated as the leader, I would take the failure on a different level compared to people who weren't directly impacted due to my actions. From that standpoint, I understand why he felt that way. At the same time, in that kind of world, I'd take a more different approach because I'm pretty sure I won't be lucky enough to grow up in an environment where I can enjoy having friends around and trusting them-you know that camaraderie stuff. His team grew up in a different environment from Akira. Akira's approach is based off living AWAY from comfort, so he's able to distance himself from these kinds of feelings and see things from a more business or risk-and-reward angle because it literally puts food on the table.

Consider the difference. Akira is a player that goes under the radar for the most part but Katsuya have expectations from others--thats a huge strain and directly impact the way how you operate.

If you don't mind me asking, who are these hypothetical readers you're explaining the manga to?
If you've been at this for a while, you know "real manga" vary a lot in "depth level". Let's not pretend this is an Akira or Barefoot Gen.
Thankfully, it's not a Goblin Slayer or Isekai #362537 either.
