). He's amoral and thus ruthless. That makes him standout as a unique and interesting Protagonist in my eyes.

Agree. I feel like the oneesans he has now are just cliched waifus instead of actual characters that disrespected him and then grew to respect Akira as a person.

And honestly WN Akira is fun to read as you know the pickpocketing ultimately doesn't matter, but it builds his character so much that you end up rooting for him to kill some pickpocketing child over a petty grudge and his ego.

Dunno if sheryl is immune because of personal disposition (possibly biological like mc and katsuya, or simply intellect/emotional state), or if it is because of the deal with alpha of minimizing interference (maybe she is even inversely affected, to make her keep akira's tools from changing their mc). But the way she seems to consider sheryl a threat due to her effect on katsuya seems to indicate it is her own resistance, as the inability to control her would make her even more of a threat to the ai's well-constructed plans.

No explanation yet for now but on their first meeting in chapter 45 Sheryl almost fall into Katsuya's charm, she feels like she want to acknowledge him and even have an imagination of her getting close to him. But Sheryl snap out of it when Akira in her imagination leaving her and it scare her so much she stop having such weird feelings toward Katsuya.

She ended up confused why she have such feelings for Katsuya, a hint about charm powers maybe?

I think it did a little, but she came to her senses pretty quick. It may have to do with her having a strong will. I don't think it's his "charm" so much as it's the AI's influence on others. Just my opinion.

There is an explanation if you go back to the scene where Akira hugged Sheryl for a long time after first meeting Shijima in the web novel. Basically, that scene is a lot less innocent once you've had everything about people who can connect to the old world explained.

Sheryl was basically being brainwashed by Akira, just like Katsuya does to his squad members, neither aware of what they are doing. Akira was thinking about how dependable his rifle was whilst maintaining it as Sheryl slept, coloring her perception of him. Alpha was completely aware of what was going on. So, Sheryl can't be brainwashed by Katsuya, because she's already brainwashed by Akira.

The Sheryl up until now was not able to give her maximum performance due to her fear. Dude, your memory is bad. Shijima is the gang leader who cooperates with Sheryl after he sends a goon to threaten her, and then Akira drags the goon's corpse through the street.

The endless days of nervousness, terror and the pressure that came from such a world were very emotionally taxing on her. Her heart was somehow able to hold on, but it left her heart with countless cracks. Then finally, the last push crushed her heart into small bits.

As her heart was ground to dust and scattered into the wind, she was looking for a place lean on. Then she found a place to cling and it became the new foundation that supported her as she gathered her crushed heart piece by piece into a new shape.

The cracks between the pieces that she gathered were filled with something that was flowing out from that new foundation. A safe haven, sense of relief, trust and reliance glued the pieces together and even transformed the pieces.
