Sure for double spreads is a problem, but most manga chapters you read from right to left, top to bottom, factually a single page being read on a strip is a more natural way to read manga.
Well I don't mind connected double spreads and might even prefer them since I can zoom them in anyway.

Although I wanted to share something about longstripped manga: I used to read it in long strip too. Used to, because nowadays I prefer to read a normal single page. Sometimes the manga is being drawn so that there's little difference between the pages but the movement, so like in the chapter when the snake comes out of the ruin for the first time (Chapter 60, pages 19<–18), the first time I read it and swiped a page I felt like I was standing there at the entrance and the snake just jumped out and passed my head and went somewhere behind me where I can't see :worry:
It was really cool looking almost like animated :meguupog:
Even now I feel similar, like from the bottom left corner of my screen suddenly a giant snake jumps out and goes somewhere.
With long strip I don't feel the same since manga was meant for a different format, even manhwa is being drawn to take advantage of a user scrolling down to imitate the movement.

But yeah it's ultimately the reader's choice, but it's the pages like those that made me start reading them in their intended format. :headpat:

Honestly, it feels like she got jammed every two steps I have to wonder why she has not prepared a counter-measure for those events.
Priorities? Like we can see that Katsuya was chosen for abilities apparently, but Akira was chosen for the strength of a signal received, that is meant to say he had basically no abilities and no money, heck even had to start by teaching him how to read and write.

But yeah it's her miscalculation that she hasn't prepared anything yet at this point, so instead of letting him to search for ruins the least she could do is mentally prep him up so he doesn't break down since it'll be safer at home with all of his bad luck that he's got.

Although at the same time I do agree that with the hunters being busy with the last big monster it must be the best time to look for some new ruins...

They (Alpha mostly) risked and took a bad draw, that's all.

Alpha's signal got weakened a few times before, but completely shutting off is the first. Current tech doesn't hinder her, it's mainly the silver fog enveloping old world ruins that affected her the most. The snake's inner side probably has similar properties.

Training him is its counter measure on in itself.

It's a very thin line she must tread. She has to make him stronger to fulfil whatever task she wants him to do later, but at the same time maintains the idea that he absolutely needs her to survive, or else he can easily walk away without paying back his tuition fee. You can see from past chapters the way Alpha kept laying it on thick how awesome her support was.

Surviving a predicament without her assist only boosts Akira's self-confidence, which isn't a boon for her plan.

This would probably happen if Akira refused:

Alpha: "Think Akira, think! You're fighting just so you can refuse your final contract with me and see everyone you love die‽‽‽"

As Alpha beat the living hell out of him in a one sided battle using a humanoid body that she hijacks.

Alpha: "Fine, you're just another tool anyway. I can always find a new subject, make them a better one.

Alpha stop the beating breifly to look at the bloodied face of Akira.

Alpha: "WHAT WILL YOU GAIN FROM THIS‽‽‽ REFUSING MY FINAL REQUEST‽‽‽"

Akira mustered up everything to say something, using his severely injured face and almost broken jaw.

Akira: "You......Alpha.....I'll still have you...."

Silence envelope the scene. For an AI such as Alpha, her ability to calculate to make a response is very fast and almost instant. However, Alpha was unable to utter a single word from that response.

Akira: "A-Alpha?"

Ends in a cliffhanger.
