imo, its in case Katsuya is real womanizer or the "justice" type where he try to "save" any cute girl from the clutch of evil lord.
anyway jealousy would make him thinking about Akira and would only spark another fight if not managed properly. the best way in this is just to stay away. which is why Alpha suggest the "work" relationship scenario.
I hope when reckoning comes, Yumina lives. Yumina's way too level headed and reasonable to just be killed off.
Airi I'm less sure of since she's done sweet FA outside of this conversation.
I kinda dislike this chapter, feels like the characters are being pulled by the plot instead of driving it, now that I mention it that problem exists in lot of scenes with these doofuses. They just seem to get into fights and pointless arguments because the script reads "put a fight scene here". It's funny that I'm immersed in a meta level to the story, just like Sheryl and crew I too was enjoying the shopping trip until they showed up.
I think our MC just kinda digs homey older sister type. He is jaded toward Alpha now despite her being the “ara ara” type cuz she already showed him like everything and has no sense of distance , also shes a spartan AI instructor who basically “killed” him hundreds of time in combat sim.
Gang girl is pretty but shes still just a brat in Akira’s eyes , the weapon shop girls and the hunter girls duo all hit his preferences really well.
Or maybe he’s subconsciously looking for affection from a mother/older sister figure since he grew up in an extremely harsh environment with no families.
I see a lot of people comparing what happens to the story in the WN and LN/Manga. Fascinating. I read the WN provided by the people who were willing to translate them (thank you very much for your work) and I'm wondering how many plot points will the story stick to in manga form.
I said before that I won't be getting into major spoilers but I'll talk about some stuff that I don't see as anything major. Will Yumina live? In the WN, yes.
How was the pickpocket arc different compared to the WN? Here the girl gets to live while in the WN she doesn't.
What's there to look forward to judging from the WN's contents? Remember that the main plot points are 1. Alpha trying to get Akira stronger so 2. he could explore that one impossibly difficult ruin and 3. Alpha just trying to not get dumped by Akira along the way.
There will certainly be something to look forward to in how their dynamics develop, and how the manga portrays that, as well as his personality developing by being with other people.
Thanks for the chapter.

i reckon by being open abt the real situation would make katsudon know his place and back away from the girl, I don't like this guy tbh, reminds me to this dumbass Shiro guy from fate series, I wish akira just beam this guy already
It gives the impression that Akira is wasteful with money despite willing to murder a pickpocket. With how apathetic Akira is with this, and how much of a short fuse that other guy has, it will at minimum cause a scene that will be a problem for the clothing store, and could have long term fueds even after that.
What do you get when a murder hobo and a brainlet with his 2 waifus walk into the same singular clothing shop at the same minute of day in a huge ass city? A shit scene
We wasted so much time on alpha trying to get him out of there just for it to happen anyway

back away only happen if Katsuya "know his place".
problem is we all know what kind of guy Katsuya is. and Akira is a bit unpredictable too.
Alpha risk calculator probably making it too risky to worth the time. or its just how Alpha and the other Ai trying to prevent any kind of conflict. both are quite valuable asset for the plan after all.
Since no one else explained why the WN went like it did... Commentators were annoyed with how it dragged out and I can understand why an editor would change the story, but it doesn't mean I like the change.
He does kill the girl.
Akira uses his associates (Sheryl's gang and others) to hunt down information on the girl, so he could find and kill her. Her existence becomes well known.
She ends up getting kidnapped by a slum gang (forget the reason for then to do this, don't think it was to get leverage over Akira, but maybe). The parts beyond this in the story could be a spoiler for how this story will likely develop, so I will not say. He kills her though, and his given reason wasn't the money. It was because she reminded him of how weak he was, and he wanted to purge that very idea from himself. He did not want even the very word of him losing to a pickpocket to exist. He had to kill her to keep his identity as a hunter and a person without weakness.
I honestly think it is one of the crazier points in the series, but I also love it. Like someone took an absurdist ideal and is forcing themselves to live up to it. Very brutal way to live, which is Akira.
Usually these ways of living causes people to break, and a lot of his character development has to do around that point. How far will he go? When will he reach his limit? Will others fall aside not being able to keep up, or break in ways trying to follow (usually Sheryl's inner monologue is about her fear corroding her naivety so she can keep up) and for how long?
I see this as an important point, which is why I'm not a fan of this change. It is the core of the series' drama.
said it once will say it again, pickpocket situation was covered a LOT better here than the Web Novel. Thank FUCK we dont have to worry about a bajilion chapters of akira chasing a petty pickpocket just to fuckin kill her (a'overreaction? I dont know the meaning of such a word!"- WN Akira probably)
