This story has so much potential to present a really interesting portrayal of a character burdened with growing up in extreme poverty. There’s already a bunch of interesting threads like how oddly Akira treats Sheryll vs the Onee-sans and how he’s able to turn off his empathy at the drop of a hat in what he perceives to be survival situations. He really does feel like a sweet, incredibly traumatized kid who’s been given a second chance at life. I really just hope that this author has grown enough from their web novel days where Akira was a petty, vengeful, psychopath around anyone who wasn’t a big tittied older woman.
