So he's over +50 and as always loved reading books, could start his own local library, So I've always talked about various ones I've read, and even tried getting him to read some. He never got around to it.
But just recently he some how started reading "Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect the Dungeon" and asked me where to go to read it. I suggested this site, and I've seen him reading on here.
Now I love my father and all and would love to see him have more stories to read.
So I'm looking for well developed stories, might be able to get a few more for me too, Stories that don't take a lot of being part of the manga/manhua communities to understand and enjoy.
Since he might like the Korean webtoons since they come colored (just a guess or he just like Skeleton Solider) or that they are usually read the same as normal comics.
But any really good Story Rich will do. He likes many kinds of themes, and doesn't mind dark fantasy like Moorcock's "Elric of Melniboné" and his favorite author being Terry Pratchett, and he got his fair share of steampunk books, and syfi books. (though i think he like fantasy more then syfi) And a 1st generation D&D player (played d&d when it was 1st being handed out personally)
The ones I'm recommending to him that he might like are:
(Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha)(Saihate no Paladin) Fantasy Lover
(Shuumatsu no Valkyrie) For the Theology
(Youjo Senki) For the Military Tactics
(Henkyou no Roukishi) For reasons ahaha
(Peerless Dad) Since He's a father
(Crimson Karma)(Kill the Hero)(Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint)(Solo Leveling)(Tomb Raider King) he might like these since they are in the same feel as (Skeleton Solider)
But I take any good recommendations.
Thank you for Time.

if he likes well-thought out fantasy/ alt history then here are some popular series:

Spice and Wolf
Dungeon Meshi
Heterogenous Linguistics
guns and stamps

Tsubana's works all have a dark fairytale vibe so I'd also recommend:

wakusei closet
Dainana Joshikai Houkou
Hobgoblin - Majo to Futari

also

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru
as ishiguro masakazu has the same whimsical vibe as Tsubana

umm also moto hagio since she's basically the sci-fi manga og:
silver triangle is a good one
11-nin iru
its sequel zoku 11-nin iru
and
r is for rocket which is an adaptation of ray bradbury's short stories

Tamura Yumi kind of continues in that tradition so:
7 seeds
7 seeds gaiden
Neko Mix Genkitan Toraji
Mystery to Iunakare

some more scifi/fantasy
planetes
missing link
lucifer and the biscuit hammer
spirit circle

and thats p much most i can think of rn

Fullmetal Alchemist and Rurouni Kenshin is a good classic shounen anyone can like, Berserk and Claymore also good. Parasyte too.
Shimanami Tasogare is a really good work about lgbt and to understand it if you're not a part of it.
I also would recc some Monster Girl like: Centaur no Nayami / Oh My Sweet Alien / Kumika no Mikaku
and also The Mermaid Princess's Guilty Meal is a fun read with a taste of dark humor.
Fourteen one of the most chaotic series you'll ever read, artstyle is outdated though.
Species Domain and SoreMachi is my favorite SoL with solid cast.

Yeah, like mentioned multiple times, definitely recommend "Spice and Wolf ". It has anime too.

"Hyouge Mono" is pretty interesting.

"Maoyuu" is a good take about mixing fantasy and real life problems that are often too simplified.

"Saihate no Paladin" is really fun so far.

"Vagabond"'s story and art are beautiful.

"Blades of the Guardian" isn't exactly story focus, but it does give me an odd nostalgic vibe to western cowboy story despite the background being swords and China.

As a history battle nerd, I really want to recommend "Kingdom" but the recent pacing and story kinda drag things out a lot right now.

I also recommend GREGORIUS Yamada's works for lighter and sort-of oneshot story.

@MawMaw How do you do the link thing? When I press the chain icon, it only makes bracket, so I don't know where to place the link.

Here some that I find enjoyable for all the ages.
https://mangadex.org/title/1073/vagabond
If you are not bothered because its not gonna end. I suggest this masterpiece, one of the best out there.
https://mangadex.org/title/843/20th-century-boys
https://mangadex.org/title/1101/monster
Two more classics. This autor is a gem.
Sorry if some are repeated, but there are a lot of mangas recommended already. Hahaha.

@MawMaw @sleepyknight @Necron99Scans @ElBichoRaro @Grimmycoffee @SirFapsalot @vinsegas @Richman @bigtiddyoneesan @sterven

I thank you guys for the recommendations, even if a lot of them are more for the younger gen or more seasoned manga reader, then what I was looking for.
(I.e some echhi, beast ear girls, or large curve to get into it) (Sono Bisque Doll , Spice and Wolf, Evangelion)
Proabably should of said to stay away from Slice of life, school life, heavy romance, anything that would be feature young teens as the prime target audience.

Never the less thank you for taking the time to give me some recommendations. (Most coming from @sterven)
And I wish you all luck.

Spice and Wolf is definitely something you can recc to your dad ma dudes, the way they handle romance is pretty different compared to other romance series and all those historical themes in it is really good.

Don't forget the economy rules, I learned more from Spice and Wolf than from my father's lenghty, sleep-inducing lectures.

@Zephian, I'd put an eye onto Kusuriya No Hitorigoto, by far my favorite Manga nowadays.
The special thing about it is the heterogeneity of themes: there are comedy, drama, a bit of romance, mystery, in a simil ancient China location, and above all an astounding MC, a female teenager incredibly smart.

What about JoJo tho?
Part 1 and 2 are great for older people who read heavy action manga when they were young
If no, then Part 6 or 7
If he's not into the art, then I can't blame since I was also like that
"What is this gay art manga? Why does this child (Hayato) looks like a grown a$$ man? Why tf is he (Bucelatti) liked that blond dude (Giorno)? Tf is that big muscular blond dude (Dio) wear lipstick, looks big gay energy.
IT'S FKING GAY!
"
Was my first impression
