Having done a bit of research, I'm thinking this "primordial god" is Chaos, as according to ancient Greek mythos, Chaos precedes the creation of Gaia (earth) (and also the universe). They believed that, everything that has come to be arose from one single entity (Chaos), and as a necessity, all must return there.
They also believed that it exists below everything, and with Tartarus being the lowest level of hell, and hell being the lowest part of the earth, Odin just put the guy who wants to stop the resurrection of Chaos, above Chaos.

I'm thinking here, but once Ragnarok happens, Chaos is resurrected and ends it all, gods included. But Seigfried wants to put a stop to that before it happens, so Odin throws Seig in jail. Brunhilde wants to free him and put a stop to Odin's plan but what can she do, demigods can't do anything compared to a god. So back to chapter 1, Brunhilde proposes humanity vs gods, and yada yada yada, we're here.

Anyways, its not surprising Odin was plotting something, but I am curious why he wants to resurrect a Primordial God and how Siegfried is involved. I can only assume Siegfried is either a sacrifice or an obstacle.

I think.. maybe both.. maybe he is both the sacrifice and at the same time also the existence that make sure they're not ressurected.

If that's the case, then Ragnarok (tournament) will end in a draw. I guess Odin won't like this and so resurrects Chaos anyway. Siegfried will also be freed from prison. The two will fight each other in an final impromptu-round of Ragnarok, which will once again end in a draw, with Sigfried and Chaos perishing.
