If I remember correctly Hachiya was choked out by Aoba, which has nothing to do with how strong your chin is
He was knocked down right in the beginning of their fight by a headkick. It was a flash knockdown, but still concerning given it was early Aoba. Something similar happened here. It's just I expected Hachiya to follow this iron chin/body trope due to his physique initially, but it seems not the case

Brutal finish, but I feel like Hachiya has shown signs of being a glass cannon. Even Aoba knocked him down. I think he will eventually get clipped by Kenshin or somebody else with a good counter
But that knock down did zero damage. Bro got hit and instantaneously bounced right back up. There is a difference between a real knockdown, and a flash knock down. Plus, the guy literally ate a flying knee to the face in this fight and knocked the other guy on his ass in response. Without going down himself.

There is no convincing proof that flash knockdowns do zero damage. After all, even a small loss of coordination means the brain is affected. And the fact that he got hit by that flying knee (although not super clearly) might have exacerbated the damage, and it will show later. But his opponent got it much much worse, poor guy and his mom, honestly.
I stand by my opinion, Hachiya has a crazy physique and dynamite in his hands but he is not a durability monster. Reminds me of Michael Chandler.

Whew, just found this series and read it all non-stop. It's very fun and compelling.
Though I do wish they'd play up the MC's almost villainous obsession to fight his rival just a bit more - I rather liked it when he would find joy at others insulting the dude, or when his only aspiration was to punch the guy's face in (rather than having a bout in public) - there's just something about its cartoonish simplicity that makes it stand out more.

Except this is a combat sports MANGA. The author would’ve emphasized it if any significant damage was actually done.

In fact, in this case, the author made it clear that everyone else was exaggerating over a flash knock down. If anything, he took more offense to the implication than any real damage and immediately took control of the fight afterwards.

If the damage was significant, the author would’ve pulled a Chekhov's gun and brought it up later. But he didn’t. It came down to his blood lust making him rush to finish and it being illegal to slam your opponent in amateur rules.

imo narratively and logically speaking, it wouldn’t make any sense to hype him up to be a match for one of the final bosses for this many chapters only for us to find out the very last minute that he can’t take a hit despite the author constantly talking about how much of a natural born fighter he is

I’m glad the author didn’t p*ssy out and actually let this guy get a Powerbomb finish at long after all that buildup

Now that I think about I wonder what happened to the BJJ guy he fought it back in the tournament

Of course the owner hates Suzuki and is looking to "expose him"
I wonder if him beating Yamamoto could lead into Aoba fighting one of the Four Bantamweight Kings since i believe Kenshin will be fighting Orima sooner than later

What I am saying is that Hachiya got knocked down by an injured Aoba, knocked down twice (knee to the body and a left-hand counter) in this fight. And the fight with Aoba happened ~70 chapters ago, so the author is actually consistent here.

I get it, Hachiya seems to be the fan favorite, but these examples clearly show his vulnerability and pave the way for strikers like Kenshin or Hazuru to defeat him. Like I said before, Hachiya is a physique/strength monster, but he does not seem OP.

And as I said, that was a kick to the head(back when he was still new to MMA himself)that he shook off with ease

knocked down twice (knee to the body and a left-hand counter)
against the guy who had enough fire power and durability to get into a slugfest with Kenshin and
kept it competitive.

I feel like you’re downplaying him simply because he’s written to be a believable combat sports athlete and not a typical Shounen super human

I essentially said the same thing you are implying (belivable combat sports athelete and not a super human) by stating his strong and weak traits. So, we are on the same page here.
In fact, I like that the author made Hachiya this way and not a terminator with an iron chin. His loss to Aoba would have been even less believable to me had it been the case.
