Good on the maid for saying "That's quite enough alcohol for you Miss", though it is not really going to change the venom the mother was dripping into her child's ear. Also can we get a clue-by-four for Mr Sauvel over here? He really needs a good smack up side the head with something rather sturdy.

Man, not only is Sauvel shit at choosing a wife, but he's also shit as a father. He deserves everything that comes to him and he has nobody to blame but himself. Ai-chan didn't like Lafilia in the early chapters, but reading this chapter, it's clear that Lafilia's not at fault. With a whore of a mother and a dumbass father who puts his brain under his feet, it would be strange if she turns out right.

Obviously not the parent thing, she DESERVES to have her parents’ love and attention because every kid does. But the fact that she refuses to accept the fact that being a noble means studying like a noble rather than just living easy is a certain level of entitlement.

Grandma really should have pointed out the why of her starting to see everyone in that mansion as an enemy.
She's been treated as such including by her own parents. Only attention she ever gets is punitive, especially with her mother broken like that. It's natural she'd start to hate the place.

She seems to know exactly what issue is and rather than just tell sauvel she decides to leave the child’s fate in the hands of her already proven-to-be incompetent son. (This presumption is based on her pointing out that changing the scenery isn’t the answer and her comment that sauvel has a similar issue)

Her parents are being shitty (her mother by whatever the hell is wrong with her and father by ignorance) and grandma does nothing to actually resolve the problem apart from giving some vague advice despite clearly knowing what's wrong. All this would take is a good sit-down conversation between father and daughter, and grandma does nothing to facilitate that apart from saying vague bullshit that he's too dumb to understand.

The problem is that's not the kind of shit you accept just because some maid or a tutor tells you to. It's your family who has to teach you that kind of thing. But where is that family here? Nowhere to be seen. She's not entitled. It's more like she has given up at this point. Maybe she believes the only person she can trust is the prince who keeps sending her letters. But I wonder if that's true. Chances are the prince just wants to use her. As if she didn't have enough shit to deal with.....

@Aichan Yeah. While Sauvel has terrible luck with women, he's just as bad himself. It doesn't help his attitude and main way of handling things seems to be out of sight, out of mind. With such a shitty household, if I was the MC, I would just stop visiting entirely. Ellen likes the grandma, but surely they could meet elsewhere.

The number one mass failures in this household are the grandmother and Rovel, who are standing by, clearly seeing what is happening, and allowing it. Rovel needs to tell his brother that he is on his own and entirely stop visiting. And the grandmother needs to kick ass, take names, then take that poor child out of that dysfunctional household and raise her herself.
She has only a fifty percent success record (unless she has some unmentioned daughters elsewhere) but that is better than the hundred percent failure rate of a husband who has completely failed in his family responsibilities and a wife who has abandoned her husband and child.
