eeeh, I don't like this nun, this is way too much, eww, wtf.

zero aesthetic beauty, zero proportion, just exaggerated fuckuble lump of fat and meat

I think she was designed to be an "ugly cute" lump that the readers feel sorry for. The artist doesn't even bother making her look attractive, her nose is always running, her eyes are baggy, she's in tears, and has shark teeth.

I don’t think it’s about japanese cuisine in specific. Medieval food before crusades and even after for the poor was probably pretty Bland. Even japanese, ancient rice was probably horrible, and tools and refining ingredients was way worse. If you introduce seasoning and ingredients processing that were developed over the ages i’d expect it to make food taste better. The japanese characters in the japanese written media make japanese food, I wouldn’t call that unexpected.
Also, why are you getting annoyed at a supposedly unexpected reaction from fictional characters in a fantasy fictional world? There’s so many more logical loopholes and convenient plot devices used by most isekai that i don’t think the medieval inspired world liking seasoned food is the worst there is to criticize. The food being awesome for everyone is the least of the problems, being able to reproduce our modern cuisine in a medieval world is the real problem
1. It's in the main plot, of course reader need to take a concern to it

2. Medieval people is not a complete moron. The ingredients is indeed can be scarce because technological issue

3. It's in no way make it more inferior. If you want to get a real research, go to your most secluded area in your country. If your country don't have it, go to country that have a tribe that deny technology implementation. They have methods to acquire the most tastier and highest quality that can't be produced by technology. For my example in my country, it's honey from the cliff's mountain area

4. Technology is just a tool. In modern area, it usually limiting the variations of ingredient so you would have less chance to find something that only exist in medieval era because of the owner of that business doesn't like it

5. Realistically, Japan's taste is based on maritime product because they are living near an ocean. The people in middle of continent would get a different preferences however good the food actually is. It's just like macD's vendor have different menus and ingredients in each country to match the local's tastes

6. I disagree with your last statement not because it's not true. It's because you shouldn't take an issue about that if it's not the main issue that the story talking about. Fiction is always weird. But you still can infer whether the author is a moron based on that

I still don't get how the people were cheering and laughing at the mention of slapstick. Like the dude hasn't even done anything and people were lmaoing hard.
Making a comedy in a manga is usually hard to do. To add that, the author need to explain the logic behind that comedy. It would ruin the flow. That's why we should treasure manga that got nice comedy how many times we read it even breaking the cultural barrier that countries outside of Japan absolutely has

Just treat it like he does something funny if you don't get it

If you mean the beginning of the chapter, they were laughing at him pretending to be the priestess Zayd, who used to be a big shot in the colosseum until the MC took down all of her fighters.

They also tend to laugh at him in general because he acts crazy and unorthodox in a fight where his ass is literally on the line. Just imagine watching a deadly serious combat sport where one of the fighters suddenly decides to make a complete mockery of it.

On page 27 it should be,
"This is a joke for gloomy people like me"
"who can't help but nitpick every chance they get"
boke here means joke.

Also, why was "Aorist" untranslated as the title and on page 23? It's a term meaning provoker, inciter, or troll.
It's a combination of 煽る and -ist, someone who provokes.
Boke is boke. It refers to people who get reactive to people's doing something. Boke is the reaction to the action of someone who made the joke

It would be more smarter if the author use a reason like "comedy wouldn't work if i am complete nobody but i now have a follower that believes me so my joke could still work even if it's weird. No i would make it work". You can put plot armor after this. It's way better than "comedy is not developed " bullshit

You're on the same level as the translator. Boke in this context means joke/gag. You won't find it in your online dictionaries, just like aorisuto.

Don't completely believe to dictionaries because it can be stupid sometimes. Why would it not be 'boke' in this context?

I lack the raws, so I don't have the context of the exact line, but the previous chapter he's using the phrase "monoboke" which is "prop comedy" not actually "slapstick". Related concepts, since slapstick often is a type of prop comedy, but not the same. Incidentally, actual slapstick would likely be counter productive in this scenario since it relies on the gap between exaggerated violence and lack of impact. Chris would likely be too shocked by the former to even catch the latter and drop her guard.

If he's making shorthand reference to it as just "boke", then yes it would be in reference to jokes/comedies rather than the literal meaning. It's one of those super obnoxious things to pick up on, since a fair bit of slang is just cutting a word down shorter and shorter until it makes absolutely no sense, or worse the wrong sense, without all the context around it.

俺と同じ陰キャ向けのボケ
Because he's saying "This is a 'boke' for introverts like me."
If 'boke' here meant 'funny man' that'd turn it into "She is a funny man for introverts like me" which makes no logical sense because the whole point is that she can't help but tsukkomi (retort).

Boke can refer to the joke/gag that a boke would do, not just the boke as an individual.
He's doing a boke(gag) that she can't help but retort towards.

Similar to how when someone says "nice tsukkomi" it means nice retort. It's referring to the action.

The fact he has the self control to only tickle and not plunge his dick grabbers into that mound of girlfail meat is truly astounding.

Christ that woman is built like a fertility goddess.
That is certainly a way to describe the whole situation.
