That's the least evil depiction I've ever seen of Akechi Mitsuhide.

@NezzKind
He's borderline saintly in "The Man Who Killed Nobunaga." He's also a good guy in "Hyouge Mono," and if you haven't read that yet, then you absolutely must, I promise you that it's brilliant.

@NezzKind Most of.his depictions in fiction I've seen has him being pretty good. I think the only one where he's evil is Sengoku Basara, and even that version starts to mellow.

Considering Nobunaga *himself* tends to be given a pretty villainous characterisation in popular works (his recorded titling himself after what's essentially the Buddhist Satan analog really doesn't help, however satirical it may have been) it isn't really too strange for his eventual nemesis Mitsuhide to conversely tend to get a fairly positive depiction...

Page 15 regarding the commander and Daimyo with 150 Koku, shouldn't it be 150 thousand Koku? There is no way a grand Daimyo has just 150 Koku -> 150 people he reigns over. She even said that they have 40 thousand soldiers.

"Because I shouldn't" is such a powerful line coming from her after all she has been through. I just love it so much.

This is a powerful chapter. I'm so bummed the series will be over so soon.

I knew there was something weird about my experience! Even after this chapter, I was like, "why don't more series treat him like a good guy?" since he **SPOILERS?** Kills Nobunaga. Now, I know that more works actually do paint him in good light. Weird sample size I was exposed to.

Oh, wait... Reiri memorizing the route, hiding her face, the commander of a crucual fort being of dubious loyalty.
Pure speculation, mind you, but this might be part of a plan for assassinating Oyamada. Nobukatsu must've taken note when Reiri almost assassinated Ieyasu, and then climbed and fought in those steep hills/cliffs during the siege, followed by running up that slope. Perhaps Katsuyori intends to to bait Oyamada into capturing Reiri-as-Katsuyori in order to deliver him to Nobunaga as a hostage? Or does he intend to murder Oyamada and blame it on Nobunaga?
