The problem here is the confusion between the Awakening and Day of Adulthood. Read the spoiler if you want to know the difference, but to be exact: Both have already gone through awakening and what Anna just went through is the Day of Adulthood.

Awakening and Day of Adulthood are once in a lifetime deal.

The Awakening refers to when girls first discovers their power. Before doing so, it's impossible to tell what their magic will do or how it will first manifest itself.

The Day of Adulthood refers to when they become of age. Their magic undergoes evolution, it doesn't necessarily mean they will get additional effects and powers though.

It is also worth mentioning that this isn't the only time their magic changes, but I won't spoil the rest.

Seems like most of us called it, Witches are like container/conduits, back them up, and their capacity will break and break their body.

Have a release valve, and they will survive without a problem. As for Anna/healers, she needs to go to a war front. If her healing power is turn inward, with the regen limiters off, then your going to get cancer growths.

@Speedphoenix @Kryloth the Day of Adulthood is the first time it happens, when they turn sixteen, and is by far the worst time. This is also witch’s gain a major boost in magic capacity, with some (like Anna and Nightingale) even gaining secondary or derivative abilities on this day, like Anna’s green fire or Nightingales ability to phase out of existence.

The day of awakening is just a much lesser form of the Day of Adulthood that recurs every year afterward on the same day.
