The novel for this is amazing, by the way. It might go a little too into detail about the technical side of things, but its in tone with the main characters' background.

I'm a little ashamed to admit, but I read 180 chapters in a less than 2 day period recently, and that's just a a bit over half the novel chapters, which are at 300 some.

Don't get me wrong, this Manhua is good. Pretty good. But, it does not do that story justice. The novel seriously hooked me, and had me on the edge of my seat at times. Especially around 70 or 80, the despair was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Seriously, I can highly recommend the novel. Just be warned you'll likely no longer be able to enjoy the Manhua, lol.

@DrDuckling @PixieDust in the description of this here on Mangadex, it links to the NovelUpdates page for the novel. I'm not familiar enough with / trust Box Novel enough, so I don't know the credibility of those chapters.

And, to tell you the truth, I started reading it around chapter 20-some. Just checked, I started at chapter 25. It's right when he starts training the Militia. Since I already read the Manhua, I could pretty well remember the start of the story, and was perfectly fine starting where I did. Up to you though, the novel likely handles his meeting with Anna way better than the Manhua does, so if you want to read the first 20 some chapters go for it.

@DrDuckling I remember someone asking same things earlier and being told that there will be important diffferences in the telling around the time when this winter starts, but most of the before will be pretty much the same. Not that I've read the novel myself.

@DrDuckling : I'm up to date on the LN and you can do as you want. Manga follow the novel, but skip a lot of little things and is lower quality than the novel, but you won't miss something story wise if you switch from one media to another.

That was chapters 53-54 of the novels for those wondering.

@DrDuckling : There's been some minor differences but the core plot points are the same
One thing that I remember
When Anna was training to control her magic early on.

This: Oh no, my clothes burned! *run to grab new cloth in embarrassment*

Novel: Oh no, my clothes burned, if only he didn't order me to wear something while practicing I'd be fine practicing naked.

@Mikufan1001 Word used in the manhua was "册封", according to baidu it means https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E5%86%8C%E5%B0%81 "Canonization" and according to google translate it means book cover. Plus, this was also the word used in the ln.

So theories last chapter were right or similar about a witch needing to empty/release magic power to be better able to survive the awakening 🤔

So... Is it the same type of deal as when you reform pagans in Crusader Kings II to have temporal leadership?

the novel is great, so many discoveries and characters pop-up, although this is a minor spoiler but since it's already revealed in the previous chapter it's ok. After reading the novel up to chapter 1300 i'm always on the edge of my seat, seeing how that place improve and how he solves alot of problems it great

the minor spoiler that i was talking about is
He is 100% right about why Anna didn't get the Demon's Bite, since witches were persecuted and killed they had to go in hiding, not letting them use their powers. Once the day of awakening comes, the power stored inside them is creating shall we say an explosion since they can't control that much power all at once. It's like when you put too much pressure on a plastic bottle sooner or later it explodes

The commoners don't care who rules the kingdom. They only care how hard their own lives are.

The MC would do well to stay away from the power struggle and do everything to make everyday life easier for the commoners, so they provide him with a wellspring of grass-root support.
