@MP20895 the Japanese society is highly hierarchical, they would certainly take the superiors' words over his. There was no proof of harassment, I'm sure, and the police would have a hard time getting the resources to do a proper investigation even if they believed him. It's all very common, after all, and they have to prioritise the cases that they know they can win. This is sadly, a more or less accurate representation of reality, afaik.
@DeliciousCake like I mentioned in the previous chapter, IDK where you live, but that's not how it works in Japan. It's also a very idealistic viewpoint anywhere. "Black companies" like this exist because their owners have concentrated enough power to cover up almost anything. They've got politicians and even the police in their pocket. It's all very corrupt, and hardly a secret, but sadly the way society is structured makes them nearly impossible to take down. It's the same rot that causes so much bullying to go unpunished at school.
