yes, sadly
I see. Well, that pretty much frees people from any moral quandries about wishing you a chance to find out for yourself. Yes, it happens the other way around too. Just keep that chin up and be sure not to tell anyone, otherwise you'd be a scammer.

The sad truth is a lot of both. A lot fear for their lives to bring it up but you also have a lot that use it as justification for divorce for whatever means.
That's like saying a lot of birds can fly and a lot can not. I put that question a bit more specifically than that.

Are we reading the same thing? You guys need to take some time off the internet because this is quite wholesome.

Why are you discussing age gap and some shit when it's mentioned they go all the way back from elementary? Crazy.

Oh shit this is a great idea. It's older man/Gal, where the power difference is explicitly spoken. I love how he accepted the DV too: something where he's scared that he actually did something to hurt his wife when he didn't mean to. That's such a gentle treatment of something that'd be easily disqualifying, and while the "SCUMBAG WIFE" response is clear in the comments here, it's also not the manga's take. He doesn't blame her, nor does he blame women. He blames himself, and as someone who's big and strong and instinctually physical, accidental use of strength in a way that would hurt someone is something he's justifiably sensitive about.

We glamorize and respect the idea of someone strong holding back, but doing it out of fear means they have a reason to fear. He knows how strong he is. He's scared of how strong he is. He's not going "I did not hit her, I did NAHT, oh hi gyuaru," he's come to the conclusion that it's possible he hurt her but didn't mean to, and that's something people feel guilt over.

I'm actually trying to suss out the age gap; he might be a couple years older, but he's also described as a big dude; they could be roughly equal in age, and reuniting after some time apart. (She's not in any uniform and I didn't see any in a closet or something so they could both be out of high school at this point.)
If it is age gap that's fine too--but it would be neat to see them both be adults in this situation, personally.
i put them at about a 6 year age gap, with him being around 30 and her being 24

From this page it looks like he was probably in HS when she was in elementary school. Here it says that she hasn't seen him since she was in elementary school, which was probably when he left for college. The age difference is probably like 6 to 8 years, I'm guessing.

Yeah really, where were people getting this huge age gap? She inherited her dead grandma's house and is living alone: WHAT HIGH SCHOOLER CAN LEGALLY INHERIT A HOUSE AND BECOME A HOME OWNER??? Plus in all the flashbacks they look like the same age or at least very close in age.
He's bent over and towering above her on the first page of the manga. They are several years apart.

It's pointed out numerous times that he's bigger than most folks and always has been. Plus the beard ages him & her clothing reads young. (ETA: and she just generally looks tiny, which always reads younger). It would be severely weird/off/(generously very on the ASD spectrum) for a high school kid to just share a secret base w/ an elementary school student.

A friend who's kids are big for their age was always fielding complaints about how her kids were acting about things that were completely appropriate for the kid's actual age. Like folks asking why her 2 yr old who looks like he's 4 was acting like a 2yr old.

Poor guy. He married a terrible woman who took advantage of him & ruined his social life with that recording. I hope she gets her comeuppance by the time he finds happiness with Karen. Home improvement with a gyaru plus an age gap romance is quite the combo. There better be a wholesome end along with home improvement tips. Thanks for the translations.
Maybe whenever they are doing up the bedroom 🥰

Yeah I hope her lies are exposed and she has to pay it back but I doubt it we are often in the area of believe any allegations

Damn I have nothing retarded to say, you guys put the bar way too high already with your abysmal reading comprehension. And here I was thinking "holy shit this is so heavy-handed, written for 10 years old". My bad mangaka-kun. 👨‍🦼

Ya'll are not looking at the big picture - why does the bathroom have wooden walls? I feel like that's a recipe for disaster.

Cheap misogyny bait ahh manga... Why is Japan like this?
Edit: Since people are asking, this is misogyny bait because the DV plot point was completely unnecessary. The author could have easily made the reason for the divorce literally anything else; losing the house or having to leave wasn't dependent on MC beating his wife (myriad of other reasons could have been used). There is no reason why DV should even get a mention in a 'doing renovations with an adult gyaru fantasy' manga.
Only took 4 more comments for someone to mention beating their wife/girlfriend, if they theoretically played them. Like, how can you guys not see this?
I understand the thought process but one of the main points is that he's being shunned by his friends and co workers, which contributes to his depression. If you want to make it a plot point throughout the series that he has no one else to turn to and that he eventually will have so find a way to essentially re-integrate into society, he has to have some sort of label put on him.

Yeah the reason for divorce could have been anything else, but the whole point of the DV accusation is how it effects his life and relationships now not just the reason for divorce. Cheating accusations is probably the only other way this could have been achieved.

The point about it bringing out weirdos that said they'd have beat the wife is 100% valid and those comments are unnecessary, but based on how the story will probably develop, saying the "DV plot point was completely unnecessary and only used to bring out the misogynists" is a little extreme. Will it bring out weirdos and misogynists, yes, is it also a plot point that sets it up so he has to overcome his depression from everyone turning their backs on him, also yes. It also is directly tied into his insecurities about being a bigger guy that's already profiled as intimidating which is another thing he will have to overcome.
