Thats actually pretty common in Japan, plus it is a very male dominant society. Cheating as long as is not romantically related is more akin to satisfying a biological thing (both males and females but the society is more lenient on males), a female stealing a married man is pretty much frowned upon unless the married woman is depicted as the culprit of that situation (ex being a bad wife, ignoring her husband so he was forced to find emotional solace in another woman those kind of things) and Karin is pretty good at gaslighting.

Even in that case dont forget Karin lost her job due to that so japan might be lenient on cheating but not so much on home wreckers

Japan is male dominated on a whole different level to the point a female is expected to leave her job and become a housewife when married, because continuing would imply lack of devotion towards her husband and/or shaming him by implying he doesn't earn enough so she has to keep working.

When on many stories the female dream is to become a "bride" is because it's implied for them to become full time housewives.


There's a fun detail that the man might earn the money but most of the time is her wife who organizes it giving him money for his expenses since he gives all of his salary every month and doesn't keep any for himself
