Tifa's overreliance on her gear is indeed a handicap, just like during the Monster Wave, she forgot she handed her life saving tool to the chief's daughter when her life was indeed in danger. The "price of failure" is a lesson that is worth to learn.

I've jsut read all the chapters non-stop. I love it when stories explore what happens after the big bad is no more and the heroes have to return to normal life. This family and their friends are great!

Right before we got the angel side story, we got the conclusion of the demon beast arc, where we saw a bunch of angels kill the demon at fault, so if I had to wager a guess they'll eventually come at Saliy for similar anti-demon reasons, so that side story was just introducing us to future opponents.

That, and Saliy just stated that Chris could have used "theurgy" (aka "invoking the action or evoking the presence of one or more deities"), something related to "angelic stuff". I suppose as a king, he may have a divine connection and be able to invoke nearby angels?
