So far MC too slow. Why would he think he’d be able to scare the guy? Lol

@Zaronax Wow that might happen which would be pretty stupid since it’s the opposite on why he hibernated in the first place lol. Sigh. It’d be a disappointment if the story went that route when it’s suppose to be a less prejudiced era...

ok from what i understood in this chapter...
Since he the one with an amber eyes has become extinct after 200 years thus having an amber eyes becomes unknown, also magic has regressed drastically due to people lived in a peaceful life without demon king. Also the modern tech like nowadays is the common thing now.

So does this mean his power combat was still useless now?
Hmm, i guess i'll check some spoiler in the novel.

edit:
what? no novel link why?

well, anyway i think he'll be known for his absurd magic.

Theory so far: Those with Amber eyes have a lot of innate magical ability, but the science of magic progressed in a different direction, emphasizing the creation of magic tools that were easier to use for others. As a result, either the few rare people with Amber eyes aren't able to use these magic tools very well, or magic tools as a whole has made the difference in innate magic less important for everyday people, so research into magic outside of tools degraded.

Guess we'll see next chapter.

The power of amber eyes has probably become legend at this point so the rich kid thinks the main is a chuni.

please explain how the ever loving f*** magical progress can deteriorate THAT much in a couple hundred years? I mean, I've seen a couple other time delayed reincarnation series that have a magical regression, but they usually write that off as several MILLENNIA of manipulations by demons with the only things surviving the gap to the MC's respawn being stuff like high tier dragons and gods, which for what should be obvious reasons don't hang around swapping magic tips with humans. here, in a mere 200 year skip there should still be many old magic users still living from before he offed himself, hell, his presumable waifu and current caretaker was a demon child he saved in his first life and she's only grown up enough to look like a ~20 year old magicless human

@insaneinsomniac around the 1990's the internet was invented and it certainly doesn't compare to it now and its only been like 30ish years, imagine the difference of 200. i will hold my other answers because its only chapter 2 and we have yet to be introduced to the authors justifications yet.

@InsaneInsomniac @Wnf While the internet is one example, let's give one more appropriate to the setting. 200 years ago in our world, the main means of land travel consisted of by foot, horseback, or wagon being drawn by an animal (horse/oxen/mule/donkey being the main ones). 200 years later, that has radically changed as the main means of travel is now by automobile/truck/etc (essentially a mechanical version of the wagon) whereas horseback riding has "deteriorated" to the point that it is really only there for leisure or sport, and not a normal means of travel. Foot travel has been pretty much relegated to fairly short distances.

I am guessing that in this world, technology began to develop and replaced the need to learn magic. Learning then atrophied and now only is known to a rare few (if any). The eye color is probably being seen as a hold-back to those olden days of magic and are not respected/feared as they once were, and now are more a curiosity at best.

your points about knowledge both concern general FORWARD progress (and the sole reason you can make those points is because we still HAVE the knowledge of what life was like back then) this manga is basically saying they had the magical equivalent of walking nuclear power plants (and walking nukes as bombs...) and supersonic flight and now 200 years later because we improved our AC and lightbulbs a bit no one remembers those things from 200 years ago ever existed and we get by with coal power plants and biplanes now instead, doesn't matter how much better and easier overall quality of life is, the fact that bothers me is the old knowledge was lost in a stupidly short period of time

@insaneInsomniac but you are assuming magic is like breathing, you don't take into account how long it could take for a mage to train to become powerful or how much magic it requires for you to do the basic things that can be done with electricity. If it takes 40 years of hard training/research to do the basics and your not some god like gold amber eye mc, i can see why magic got tossed by the wayside for an easier system.

I'm not contesting that simpler more convenient magic would be more popular, it's the whole throwing away the cumulative learning from centuries or possibly millennia of magical research within a mere 200 years, which has already been canonically proven to be well within the lifespan of some of the world's residents, that bothers me, how could the old knowledge have been so thoroughly lost that fast? even if you can't USE the magic without years/decades of training, they should at least be able to study the theory from people who grew up in the MC's first life era and thus preserve the knowledge
like how IRL a doctor needs many years of learning to perform a surgery but any random person can take a few days and learn about the theory behind said surgery and the intended effects of it, they obviously can't perform the surgery but they can at least understand the basics of how it works what it does and why it gets done, this series the reactions make it seem as though instead of being less favored but still understood, the traditional use of magic was almost completely lost and largely forgotten because of the new tech

Again i don't wanna make assumptions seeing as this is only the 2nd chapter but there are a lot of reasons why they would no longer have access to magic. But we do have some information that i can use to make assumptions/theories.

1. The MC makes a new body instead of using his own which we can surmise to say that magic cannot stop atrophy so the extension of life via magic doesn't seem possible.
2. Magic can harm the human body with frequent use, another reason as to why he made a new body instead of just staying in his old one.
Those two statements are the reason as to why the old mages died out sooner rather then extending their lives.

It's a bit much to generalize that all of magic over the 200 years is gone after him reading only 1 book but it could be said that the answer is that simply the general population are not good with magic but there are specific mages towers that practice magic to a higher degree that are secluded and only practice/refine magic.
The result of that is that the new mages learnt from the shit books and again the books can be explained as the proper wizards teaching the apprentice > the apprentice writes down what they learnt from it but after handwriting a few books "optimized" the writing process down so that the original textbook is distorted through time because the resulting wizards learning the first textbook learnt it wrongly and advanced and tried to optimize it in the wrong way, TL:DR an intergenerational chinese whisper book.

These are all just assumptions and i don't mind you poking at the authors logic but at least give him a chance to explain why/how it happened past chapter 2 and then you can poke at how dumb it isWhich it inevitably will be knowing Japanese authors.

@sunsetchaos exactly my tough (about "If this was hentai, he probably got cucked even though she's not his".)
then i remember its a manga not a H

olalala now amber is seeing as "useless" i would never think about that ...
remind me of the isekai manga with the 3 or 4 crest in his first life his crest was "bad" and in his actual life now his new crest is the "bad" one for this generation

How would Amber eyes (which were enemy eyes, let's not forget) would become something to laugh at. Like I get that the author want's people to underestimate the MC but can you not do it without making the whole world dumb as fuck. One of the most infuriating things about manga / light novels which take place in fantasy worlds. Like come on man, 200 years ago the demons were killing people and had amber eyes, that's only 2 generations ago max 3.

Also let's be realistic, combat magic would have never been forgotten and would be used just like modern day nukes are. Keeping other countries in check from invasion, diplomatic power, etc.

Magic at its peak in your thirties... so the rumor about becoming a wizard, if you stay a virgin for 30 years seems to be true in this world.
