smh i like this because this is my first clamp, but the bs in this when i think about it now 10 years later.

It's explained that the six stars dying is what awakens destruction. You will note that in a few pages, they ask him why he killed one of the stars since that would be counter to what he needs to do and he answers that he did it out of compassion because she wanted to die. Killing Yasha-ou would be counterproductive.
