Honestly, you're kinda right. It's super confusing. My guess is that he has a place in Tokyo where he regularly works. Currently, he is working from his old family home. They are currently in the process of moving her stuff to his new place in Tokyo where they are planning to look for a new apartment.
Though they haven't shown anything about his place, so I'm not completely sure. The author says in his notes that he wanted to show them at Tatsu's place, but he couldn't for "consistency reasons" which have yet to be seen.
