So, I guess the real drama is gonna be that Tadashi is so enamored with Yuka that he has no time for his daughter?
I think "the real drama" is that Alice lost her mom.
And now some lady came in and replaced
her mom.
She herself had some of the same prejudices that those others currently badmouthing Yuka do, as well, but it's someone who, as we literally see in the dream at the start of the chapter, was very important to her.
Being resentful of someone that you view as an interloper walking into the hole ripped in your family isn't a stretch. Lilisa was able to have moments of bonding with Alice, but even the context of Alice coming to like her stepsister revolves around music, and the allure of rock'n'roll.
Remember--Lilisa
also has run afoul of her mother, who is trying to quash everything of Lilisa's old life in an effort to get her to "fit in" to this new world and role that is being demanded of her. It's a core reason as to why Lilisa is gunning for the special title of her academy; she sees it as undeniable proof that she's fully crossed over into 'high society', in a way that can't be refuted by any potential naysayers. And she's doing that for her mother, as much as for herself, but she's still choosing to flout Yuka when it comes to matters of rock music and the guitar and those things that tie Lilisa to her dad.
Yuka is trying to excise her past and fully convert over to this new life. She's not being malicious about it, but it's very "fake" of her, and something that Lilisa has refused to do at her core. Alice has resonated with Lilisa on that
very thing, whereas Yuka is trying to assimilate into Alice's life, and that is what Alice is pushing back against.
And again--she apologized to Lilisa for her behavior in this same chapter. She realizes what she said and did and how wrong it was. But her reaction is entirely understandable, and honestly I'd argue summing it up as tritely as "drama" as people have here, is doing the characters a disservice.
