@Legion_01, you gotta understand that in Korea, these are issues that are really current. Nepotism and corruption have gotten so bad that even their previous president was removed from office. A quick rundown of what was happening is that the president's parent was the first "president" of Korea. However, he was basically a tyrant and was eventually overthrown. People were concerned when she was running for office, but she somehow won. It was found out later that her daughter was let into a prestigious college through bribing and fake research papers and the president was using national funds for herself and her children. There were more things and it was bad enough to the point that the Korean government issued an international search and arrest for the President's daughter who had gone into hiding in France or something. She was caught and brought back to Korea for trial, in which she was basically found guilty for everything. Major business corporations were found guilty for also colluding with the President and because they were major, just some CEO's were fired but the business was still basically kept by the families... The wildest thing is that the president had a friend. This friend was the daughter of a religious fanatic. And that daughter was also using national funds because the president was giving it to her!!!
The craziest thing about all of this? The only reason why these guys were BTFO'd was because the president's friend (the religious fanatic's daughter) frequented this male cabaret club and started "dating" one of the guys there. This guy used to be an Olympic ice skater but was fucked over by.... you guessed it, corrupt people that wanted to compete olympically so they used their connections so he wasn't able to qualify. So out of a job, and stolen of the prestige he could have gained, he went to selling himself. Anyways, back to their relationship. Things were getting sour, and it was clear that his "girlfriend" was cheating on him and getting ready to fuck him over. As he was going through her phone, he saw all of the fucked up shit that was going on and started revealing all of the details on the internet. And because once it was on the internet, it couldn't be removed no matter how hard they tried to hide it, everyone all over Korea lost their shit and it could no longer be hidden.
What's sad is that they all know that these politicians and rich people are corrupt AF and they know that rich kids always get away with bullying and fucked up shit. I mean, hell, it happens in America too but it's significantly worse in Korea. Hush money is easy when you only have to give it to a smaller number of people, and in a place like Korea where it is really hard to move up the economic/social ladder, getting money, no matter how risky or fucked up, is usually the best thing to do to get out of their current situation. But that's why it doesn't work so well in America and why it's such a huge issue in Korea. It's the same for Japan as well and other smaller countries that rapidly changed from third world countries to first world.
