@botodopo Well, it's easy to think like this but the real question is will she act on these thoughts when the time comes? I'm reserving judgement on her logical self defense mentality until I see if she can follow through with it, or freezes up. Even then, if she still does what she has to despite finding it harder than she thought it would be, that's quite good.

I agree with killing murderous brigands, highwaymen, and other such bandits in self-defense and also in protecting other potential victims. But I can't agree with the author having the MC, Mitsuha, use the justification of "they're not human" in order to rationalize the killing of those bandits.

The first step on the road towards genocide and inhuman cruelty is to dehumanize others.

"... They're not human anymore. As in, it's fine to exterminate them."

That says it all really. It's probably that very same thought process which led the Japanese to do many of the cruel acts that they engaged in during the Pacific War. The same is true of past genocides committed throughout history by other cultures as well. It's a slippery slope.

Best to acknowledge that the bandits are human, but if you need to kill them in self-defense, then so be it.

Well, that's enough preaching from me, for now.

Finally, an isekai protagonist with the mindset of "if they try to harm me or the people I care about, fuck 'em, they get what they get". So many of these shonen or isekai problems could be solved by just killing the villain when they have the chance.

Well, it's one thing to dehumanize people based on their nationality, race, sex, or other things that they have no control over, which is obviously bad, but I think it's perfectly justifiable to dehumanize people who committed major crimes like bandits, who kill people to satisfy their own selfish desires, or slavers and rapists.

In the end it's a medieval world and stuff like that is more common than in modern societies, so it's a good attitude of MC to steel herself mentally that she might have to deal with people, who behave like inhuman animals.

Hell, even in our world these things still happen often enough that it's a problem, if you look at the entire world, and not just relatively save first world countries.

like cartel, mafia, triad and gangs member. it perfectly justified to dehumanizing them because they behave like animals. those people don't spare anyone that dare to talkback or cross them, why should we spare them. of they treat others like animals, we treat them like animals and put them down.

those with so called human right and so called moral " eye for an eye make the world blind" were hypocrite. they just wanted to keep their hand clean, while other suffering of those inaction.

Yeah, wannabe saints can only grand stand so much, because they don't need to or haven't yet dealt with the consequences of their toxic kindness.
