@definitionofinsanity We do know it's not a whole lot of time. Like I've said in the comments of an earlier chapter, her hospital death scene had quite modern equipment around, so it was most certainly not multiple decades ago. I'd have thus said she did reincarnate more or less immediately, or at most with, let's say, a 10 years delay. Unless the grandson boy in her memories died very untimely, he would be around for sure. After this chapter, we can in fact believe the boy in her memories should be around middle/high school, since the random guy caught her attention. It means she knows he's around that age. Obviously she knows her own year of death as well as the current year.

@Aspidochelon While I do think the reincarnation here was soon after, I don't personally believe in reincarnation at all, so the question of how it works and whether there's a delay is surely a matter up to the individual author. And I've definitely read fiction with delayed reincarnation a few times, so it's not like it was an out-of-bounds idea. I've even read at least one thing where there's a problem because while there used to be a fairly long wait/recuperation period, there isn't any more because there are too many people and they're running out of souls.

When she bumped into the kid that reminded her of Sadao, she commented that it looked like his middle school uniform. Meaning Sadao was already in middle school... when she was still a grandmother. And, she's now, what, around 5 years old (I can't recall if it's stated how old she currently is now, but she's definitely around that age)? Meaning that even if she was reincarnated literally right after she died her grandson could easily be about or already have just graduated high school in Japan (middle school in Japan goes from about no less than 12 to around 15 on average). Meaning that even if Sadao was just entering middle school as she died, he'd still be around 17 or older even at the youngest

The problem is she's already a little girl. That's compounded time added to however long since she's died. So even if it was an immediate reincarnation... she still had to wait until she was old enough to walk and talk in her new body before she could do anything. And, strangely enough, she put it off until after that, even. I mean, when she's this old and already in pre-school, I'd have figured she'd have already checked up on her past life's family at this point.

@definitionofinsanity Right, a good catch. I don't wonder about her passive attitude so far, though. She's just a little kid, so her means of checking anything are very limited, plus she likely wants to avoid some attention. Not to mention contacting some dude, telling him she's his reincarnated grandma would be excessively haphazard. I don't even recall if it has been said how far she's living from her previous place of residence (and Sadao's current one). She would need to be at least late elementary school before she can do much independently out there, without worrying her folks or getting in trouble in general. No amount of dappe can change some things. I suppose phone calls would have been within her means, but in her shoes, I'm not sure I'd have personally made strange phone calls either.

Well, thinking back on it it, it's also more difficult for her to check up on him because she can't utilize technology. If it was anyone else, they'd just be able to get on a PC or smartphone and just look him up or check to see if he's on social media. I'm guessing... that's beyond her (although she could just ask someone to do it for her or make up an excuse - "my friend at pre-school has a nii-san and I wanted to see what he looked like, could you search this name?"). Indeed she's at the age where she can move around and do stuff mostly freely, but going off on her own is probably still out of the question.

I honestly don't know whether she's going to try to tell Sadao she's his grandmother, but I kinda doubt it will go down that path. I think she just wants to check up on him and see that he's alright and doing okay.

Yeah, I'd be quite surprised if she did that. However, not doing it does create the requirement of having some excuse to contact him or his folks directly if she's going to check on him remotely. Unless, indeed, she could do it via the net, but that doesn't seem like something she would do. Otherwise she would need to do it by observation, but for the time being she can't randomly go anywhere on her own. She would need some much older person to humour her. The big brother naturally is the first that comes to mind. She merely needs an opportunity, an excuse, and to be able to convince him. He's already easily old enough to go out on his own, within reason.

I think maybe she'll meet him and they'll have a bond, but she'll be satisfied with having that kind of relationship rather than telling him she's his grandma. He'll probably notice somethings that are similar between the two and feel at peace with her since she does remind him of his grandma.

I'm more interested in what kind of equipment that FBI dude has in all his pouches and stuff than the loli mask. It's like a '90s superhero, pouches everywhere and no idea what's in any of them because they never really were shown using them that I can recall. Batman excluded, he and his sidekicks/partners usually actually kept like, smoke bombs and batarangs and shit in them and all and it wasn't just a '90s thing for them.
