I think I understand what she is feeling. As a parent myself, I do worry about my kids. Even if they turn bad at some point in their life, they're still my kids above all. More than angry, I would be worried sick and think about their well-being first and foremost. The scoldings can come later, but seeing them happy, well fed and healthy comes first.

Well since you bring up Robin Hood so specifically here it should be quite apparent that it isn't always a cut and dry, black and white issue. Unless you kind of missed the entire point of what was going on in the setting of that story.

That said, I can't really disagree that the idea of stealing being superior to accepting charity just because it's from a child is pretty wonky. Stealing food to survive off of is a last resort sort of deal. But that was possibly sarcasm to begin with. Hard to get a read on that in low effort text posts. Gotta jump through some hoops to get that sarcasm rolling smoothly for readers. For instance with that sentence...

and no, stealing is way better than getting handouts from grade schoolers
It could work better like "and no, stealing is way better than getting handouts from grade schoolers, obviously." A little emphasis in the right places helps. Still not as good as verbal sarcasm cues but it can get the job done.

Now I'm glad they finally met, but yeah she left him a penniless orphan while she's growing up cherished. I hope she'll introduce him to her new family or let them adopt him, as he still looks like he's not a full-fledged adult with a stable job.
