I still think LIZ is just some idol he's made to look like Ayako from his memory.
I could see this one working out, since it makes sense 1) as something the obsessed producer might do and 2) why LIZ wouldn't factor into his search; he knows she's fake.
I find it more interesting than she's just being a girl that loses memory because she only bangs deranged dudes that choke her (because erotica mangas couldn't be more shallow)
Or that she's a triplet and this is actually a Negi Haruba Spin off
Strictly speaking, if we accept all direct and circumstantial evidence presented so far at its face value, she is:
  • an actual alien from outer space
  • and also potentially some sort of collective of at least 3 distinct individual clones (if you go by the theory that Jorori's use of uniquely specific fingernail and piercing combinations for each of the original thot, LIZ, and Ayako means something)
  • that potentially share a hivemind
  • that seems not to have visibly aged since somewhere between 10-20 years ago
  • that has weird eyes and unusually large fangs
  • that can instantly teleport short distances (and perhaps further)
  • that can either create/destroy or similarly teleport about a closet's volume of junk
  • that can psychically project herself into other people's thoughts/memories
  • that is a genius-level mathematical prodigy
  • that is strangely hyperefficient at using computer technology
Now the thot may certainly be an unreliable narrator about the alien thing (though the whole Hashimoto Kanna episode would indicate she's not a very good liar - mostly she seems to just flounce away when she wants to avoid a topic, like she just did with the producer, or when she ditched the study group, etc) so it's no slam dunk case that this is all true. But that right there is the current 'canon' to work with through 8 chapters.

I dunno man. He's offering half a million bucks for maybe a few weeks work. Pretty hard to pass that up unless you're a saint or you're already rich.

I forgot to put the currency conversion in the TL notes, better fix that.

10,000,000 yen is 732,000 Norwegian kroner btw (or about $68,250 if you're a weirdo).

Though sometimes I kind of feel like using the current currency rates is a bit of a mistranslation; if you're going by how a certain amount of money "feels" to a country's residents, the way the Japanese use yen is kind of like if the United States used 'cents' for all their prices instead of 'dollars'. So as a sort of generic estimate figure, you also could translate 10,000,000 yen as 10,000,000 cents, i.e. $100,000.

tbh for most of the last 30 years on average the exchange rate was basically 100 yen = 1 usd, it's just that the last couple of years the dollar has become a lot stronger against the yen and
honestly I really should book another trip to Japan before this goes away

One thing I forgot to mention, LIZ has a beauty mark whereas roommate and Ayako do not.

Regarding the piercings, Roommate has the most at 8 piercings on each ear (only 3 of which are earrings). Ayako is next at 5-6 earrings on each ear. Last is LIZ with seemingly only 1-2 piercings on each ear (1 earring each). Now, that's not definitive proof that they are each different people (though it would be clever foreshadowing) since piercings can be removed.

Yeah, it's not authoritative in and of itself, but I always like to circle back to how I don't think Jorori is noticeably consistent about little details like this just for no reason whatsoever. Even if the number of piercings does tend to wobble a little, I suspect that's mostly down to that variations from panel to panel on how big an ear gets drawn in conjunction with the size of the pen lines are dictating how many of them take up the space without looking weirdly off-model. Piercing holes don't just go away either, though that's probably a little too much detail even for Jorori.

Arguably this is waaaaay too much meta-analysis for a wacky supernatural-ish titty manga, but as a solo translating/editing/redrawing scanlator I have also spent waaaaay too much time looking at every page of this manga at like 300% zoom in the course of coming up on a year now of cranking these out, so I guess this is just what happens to a dude after all of that?

Ya, I tend to lean into believing that authors/artists include consistent details for a reason. Maybe its too much meta-analysis, but I love that kind of thing. I'll analyze literally any piece of media.

It's good to do that, but try not to overthink this. It takes away a bit of the surprise sometimes.

How is it that every chapter suddenly seems to shift to a whole different genre lol?

So yea, another file on top of the file cabinet that is our nameless heroine. First "Liz-chan", then you see a girl getting arrested that looks like her, then she seemingly falls off a building, then says she's from space, and now "Ayako"? I'm convinced the author loved American Dad's Roger too much and decided to turn his schtick (and that's the tip of the iceberg. by now he has over 100 different personas lol) into a cute girl.

Rip MC bro tho. Just wants to get with his high school crush and get into college and he's the center of an entire Family Guy cutaway gag.

pg 25: Before any threads start some oddball speculating, no, he didn't actually kill her, it's just kinky roleplay shit.

lol would it even matter at this point? I could easily believes she gets "killed" and then her body disappears never to be seen again (you know, until chapter 1).

I'm more concerned about the scratch marks. They seemed kinda extreme at first and then escalated to literally bleeding. Roommate seems to just shrug it off and doesn't even age in 10 years, but is producer bro okay?

Not mentally, clearly. he lost his marriage and made a young woman he had power over dress to look like his thot mistress. Dude doesn't just have demons, the devil lives rent free in his head.

As for why Liz, Ayako, and the bane of our MC's existence all look alike, here's my best guess for the future explanations: Ayako and the MC's roommate are the same person or related. LIZ is an idol that the producer has created and brought up to look like the spitting image of Ayako as part of his obsession to see Ayako again.

given the dude's been obsessed for 10+ years, I believe this. Combine the dude's obsession with his harcore history with "Ayako" and then take into account that Liz is now missing... this shit is getting dark :shamihuh:

3 possibilities
Either she lost her fking mind after that BS
There is one more (twins or look alike)
She's acting for whatever reason

Given the theme so far. Highly likely it's the same person.
4: She's some kind of ghost/demon that gives people what they deserve (while enjoying sex along the way)

It would appear there are multiple versions of her.

I am starting to believe she really is an alien.
First, the way her eyes are drawn.
Second, there has been an idol that disappeared. Another one that was arrested, Ayako and the one living with our protagonist.

For a moment, I thought our man was hallucinating, which is the reason the girl has never been able to see her.
... In fact, now that I think about it. Our girl has never (conscious) seen her. When they were in his apartment, she vanished.
When they went to study, only the other guy saw her.
When the tennis club got Fuyu drunk, that's the only time she saw her... although, it may have been something else.
This dude trying to get Ayako is the other one that can see her.

But I wonder if this girl has lots of clones around, and as she said, she is from outer space.
