The fact that it's been so long without hearing anything, worries me. Hope the author is okay...

I have genuine question - why the hell mangakas are getting sick all over the place? It isn't job that is highly dangerous or anything like that. What is going in my mind is that - isn't "being sick" just too convenient of a excuse for too many situations? I'm not implying that this specific author is somehow lying about his illnes whatsoever, but I just cannot comprehend this phenomena. Call me insensitive or slury, but why instead of lying about your own illnes just tell the truth or - I know, crazy idea - just ditch project and move on without any explanation?

there can be many health issues that may arise from situation like the one below

"Schedule is grueling and you spent all day hunched over a desk. At least at most office jobs you can sit upright and move around to break up the day. These guys (mix of nature of the job and Japanese work ethic) sit hunched all day without breaks. Apparently in an interview Oda, the One Piece Author, detailed his daily schedule which is: wake up 5 AM, work all day only taking small breaks for eating, bathroom and quick naps, and go to bed at 2 AM. And he’s been at it since the late 90s and has only taken a month off like 2 or 3 times. Once when he got married, once during covid and currently he’s on a 4 weeks break because he got eye surgery." i took this from someone else

It can be a very stressful job, and it might take a lot both physically and mentally. I think that, in a job that requires someone to be creative, it might be specially hard, since it's hard to come up with ideas when you are overly stressed.

Must some serious health issues to keep a guy in his mid 20s for this long, honestly wondering to what exactly happen to the guy.
